I finally made her mine

#1

Post by Javier730 »

After a few years of wanting her, I finally made her mine. I finally bought myself a FN Five Seven MK2. I know alot of people hate it. They say its an overpriced 22 magnum. Others love it. They swear its the best gun. I dont know what it is but there is something about her that caught my eye. Im going to put several hundred rounds through her saturday and see if its true love. If she performs well, I am going to get me a good holster and carry her maybe once a week. I can hardly wait.

I know one thing she is. LOUD

I've been in the next lane over from someone shooting one before and WOW.

Congrats on your Five-Seven.
They are a lot of fun to shoot and love to shoot mine when I can.
Need to buy another case, down to my last 500. Enjoy!

I love my FN 5.7! It is tons of fun to shoot, and is always a big hit at our basic handgun classes.

Too big to carry, but a wonderful range gun or home defense gun.

Congrats! I really like mine. It is a lot of fun to shoot and a great conversation starter at the range. I carry mine regularly and I am a fan of the caliber. It is low recoil, flat shooting and accurate. Maybe one day it will be legal to purchase the full power rounds. That would be nice. I think that ridiculous ban is the main reason this caliber has not been more attractive to shooters. Enjoy!

I believe today is the second Saturday. I hope the range report comes along soon. One of the shows on the Outdoor Channel did a report on the 5.7 guns and really liked them. More power than a 9mm with about half the muzzle rise when firing I believe they said.

Went to the range yesterday and tried my five seven. I used 40gr V Max and 40gr federal. I only got to shoot about 20 rounds through it before being told I could not shoot it at the pistol range. Something about the round punching holes through the angled metal backstop. Going to head to a different range Monday if the weather permits. It started drizzling pretty heavy here.

In those 20 rounds I fired I had zero malfunctions. I had a bit of a problem with the accuracy though. I was shooting all over the place. The sights are adjustable but it was not just shooting high or to the left, it was all over. Not impressed. I wonder if there is a break in period or if I got a lemon. It was real disappointing but Ill give it another go tomorrow.

Really, really frustrating. $1350 for a pistol that is suppossed to be real accurate and it doesnt perform well. :banghead:

I finally was able to go to the range today and fire my five seven. It started again all over the place and after about 50 or 60 rounds I started noticing it started grouping. I was firing 10 rounds at a time. The groups started getting tighter. I put 350 rounds through it. The last hundred rounds went beautifully. I fired 15 and 25 yards. I had zero malfunctions. I want to go again this weekend and put another 300-400 rounds. I am really liking this pistol.
