From the article (emphasis added):
Keep in mind, any American can apply for a D.C. gun permit. But so far, only 76 have done so. Thirty-one were denied. Five cancelled their own applications. And 16 were approved.
I think everyone in Texas should apply. Especially if/when the federal judge strikes down their bogus "special danger" requirement. :evil2:

Not everyone can throw away $75.

Do you know if you have to apply in person?
Keep calm and carry.

Looks like you do need to apply in person.

$75 application fee + $35 for fingerprints.

You must register your gun when you get to DC, and it must be on the CA, MA, or MD gun roster. (If I'm reading this right.)

Registration costs another $13.
Keep calm and carry.

I'm sure this is just to shut her up. She's been a thorn in the side to DC PD. Now when she complains, they can say "but you got your permit".

I'd ask for that in writing so if she ever needed to use her pistol she could submit that as a defense to prosecution. :biggrinjester:

I suspect you are correct, they may have decided to try the "Give her what she wants and maybe she will go away..." method of dealing with her.
How do you explain a dog named Sauer without first telling the story of a Puppy named Sig?

:iagree: I feel dead certain they did not want yet another expose' on their corrupt system.

My reply to her article:

"Today, there are 16 of us who may exercise our Second Amendment right to bear arms."

Emily, that's not exactly true. You have not finished the process and DC still says you can't carry.

"I have only received preliminary approval. To get the permit, I have to take 18 hours of classes with an instructor certified by the police within 45 days."

And of course the other thing that makes it not exactly true is that DC is making you pay to get a license to carry, and that's not exercising a right, it's just granting a privilege, a privilege that damned few get.

I think they didn't want to see her making any more news through the appeals process and onward to SCOTUS.
As a DC resident she has "standing".
