Seems to me that there is just one bucket full of rights for the whole world. Russia gets more rights every time an area or areas here in the US loses some of theirs. Washington State passes draconian background check requirements, Russian relaxes some gun control; I am confused. I continue to remember when I was in Germany, listen to Pravda and laugh about their state controlled media, their anti religious bias and etc. Now it seems more and more the shoe is on the other foot.
Unless we keep the barbarian virtues, gaining the civilized ones will be of little avail. Oversentimentality, oversoftness, washiness, and mushiness are the great dangers of this age and of this people." Teddy Roosevelt"

In an amendment to its tough gun control laws, the Russian government eases restrictions, allowing citizens to carry licensed weapons for the purposes of ‘self-defense.’

Until now Russian gun enthusiasts were only permitted to carry firearms for hunting or target shooting after obtaining a license through the Interior Ministry. Russian gun licenses are to be renewed every five years, and applicants face strict background checks and are required to take gun safety courses.
I'm going to research this. Do you think that means that next time I visit Russia, I may be allowed to carry for defensive purposes?
When I read this I was wondering if you ever thought which prison you would enjoy more, Russian or Mexican?
Hahaha, no, I have no intention of going to prison, nor do I ever have any intention of going to Mexico. It would be nice though, I like Russia, but... <EDIT> It's not always the friendliest place to outsiders.
Our A.G. Needs to send them a letter of reciprocity and see if they will sign it. ;-)
:smilelol5: That would be a good way to start better relations! Why not try? What's the worst they can say, NO?

They wouldn't say "NO", they'd say "NYET!"
HET, Bbl CKa3aTb "HET", HE "NYET."

<EDIT> (NOTE: Sorry for no translation. "No, you say "HET" {NO}, not "NYET".
not yet is "ещё нет" in Russian.

I don't have Russian keys on this computer, my alternate boards are at home, so I tried to stay simple with only English comparable letters. And I wasn't trying to say "not yet" anyway. Read up a ways, you'll see why I put that. I don't know what "NYET" means, but it isn't in my vocabulary of words. (Thread drift)
