All I saw were handguns on the LEOs. When we got to our seats I realized how vulnerable this unarmed crowd was. I won't describe the vulnerabilities that I observed but they were numerous. A crowd panic alone would probably kill 100s. I then realized that I actually saw the event better in front of my TV and I felt safer!
If it was a bowl of super proportions there were local SWAT snipers in key positions, a buddy of mine was one of them.
As mentioned, excellent thread. It definitely causes me to reassess my options/methods. I will be in Chicago on 9/11 and my wife and Mom are flying ORD to DFW that day, we have Faith and we will not live our lives in fear due to cowards that hide behind masks.
This has been on my mind, also. Just last week, I switched the S&W 60 I carry almost
every day, with a 1911, and extra mags. Now y'all have got me thinking about a covert
bag for the folding stock Ruger Mini-30.

What's a dazzling urbanite like you doin' in a rustic setting like this ?
We can see the threat, but Obama's FBI cannot. While DHS is releasing bulletins warning law enforcement to be alert for islamist attacks, the FBI, in their current national threat assessment, does not even mention this clear and present danger. They're worried only about "domestic extremists."

The entire Department of Justice needs to be cleaned out and rebuilt, for the reason listed above as well as plenty of others.
There have been dozens, if not hundreds, of militant-Islam inspired attacks in the US by mostly legally present individuals who decided to embark on violent jihad over the past 15 years. Some were thwarted, many were not, most all of them were treated as "isolated crimes". The fact that many of the attackers were not part of a formal organization operating and operating from a formal plan does not unlink them from the overall terrorism campaign of militant Islam. The fact that the FBI deliberately chooses to ignore this shatters their credibility and respectability.
The latest update on an "imminent islamist terror attack" in U.S. border areas from DHS that FBI doesn't see as worthy of inclusion in its national threat assessment can be found here.
The FBI sees anti abortion protesters and white supremacists as much bigger threats to worry about. The administration's open border policy and the fact that IS groups are actively working in Mexican border cities is no problem at all.
To say this is less than confidence inspiring is an understatement.

As an El Paso resident this certainly got my attention. While my eyebrows are raised, I will take my cue from Ft. Bliss on this. If they up their threatcon, then it is probably actionable intelligence and I will act appropriately. My wife works on Ft. Bliss in a very prominent building that I'm sure they would love to target and it pains me that she cannot arm herself even to and from work due to DoD regulations. I have asked her to consider taking the 11th off but I doubt that she will.
I would urge you to rethink this carefully. Determining the threat/safety of you and your family based on the well prepared examples of Ft Hood, the Washington Navy Yard, and too many other examples to name of the preparedness of our government to deal with terrorist acts is, in my opinion, a grave mistake.
Our Federal agencies march to the orders of the authorities on high. I'm seriously beginning to wonder if their seeming stupidity is just that, or something far more sinister. I pray to God I am wrong.

I second what SDT said. Remember, according to the Army and the US Dept of Justice, there was no terrorist attack driven by violent ideology at Ft Hood, just "workplace violence." Neither of which they were prepared for, and as far as I can tell, they still aren't.

Well, the CG at Bliss shutdown some gates and announced restricted access to others. This sometimes happens on long holiday weekends but they specifically stated that this was due to "security concerns". They also announced increased inspections at the gates. It's time to take this seriously and look at some plans for Household 6.

The border isn't accidentally open. The ruling junta wants it open because any and all consequences that stem from an open border are win win win for them.

Yes it is. I suspect our churches will be an even better target for these lowlife than are malls. Not only can they kill American, they can kill American Christians. Sadly, most folks will view this as a "Chicken Little" rant.
Chas.
I went shooting with my pastor and another member of our church a few years ago. Pastor asked "Do you have a CHL?" "Yes I do". Pastor - "Then I encourage you to carry to church. You won't be the only one". Glad that I'm not the only one clinging to God and my guns!
