Allowed to board his flight, but lost his gun. Ouch.

But front page at Channel 2.

That happens so often the TSA sent a letter out to gun ranges last year asking them to give copiew of the letters to CHL students.

The guy in the article is lucky he didn't get arrestee.

It is easy to forget that your gun is in you bag. That is why we need to always double check as a matter of routine.

I wonder if he is not part of the Federal Flight Deck Officer (FFDO) program? He may be, but since he was flying International he would not have been able to take his gun with him. He may have been thinking about that, left it at home and didn't think about the other gun that was in his bag.

I've never left a gun in one of my bags. But I do have kids so I head straight to the safe when I return home with firearms.

Long ago I stopped using 'travel' bags as gun bags for just this reason.

Get a range bag and only use it for that purpose.

Can LEOs carry on a US flight if they have a letter from their chief or sheriff and the pilot allows it? I'm sure there is more too it that I don't know.

I wonder how well that would have gone over in a less friendly state, to just let him continue on without it.

Its either on me or in a dedicated gun bag. What i am always worried about are my knives, i have walked through check points with more knives then either of us would like to admit.

Nope. Only ones I have ever seen were Federal agents (air marshalls, FBI, secret service, ICE, etc.)

I know our instructor said we could carry. I did a quick search and found this...

http://www.tsa.gov/about-tsa/law-enforc ... ying-armed" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
To qualify to fly armed, Federal Regulation states that an officer must meet the following basic requirements:

Be a Federal Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) or a full-time municipal, county, or state LEO who is a direct employee of a government agency.
Be sworn and commissioned to enforce criminal statutes or immigration statutes.
Be authorized by the employing agency to have the weapon in connection with assigned duties.
Have completed the training program, ‘‘Law Enforcement Officers Flying Armed.”
Lots of red tape. Anyone ever take or hear of this LEO flying armed course?

I've heard of ray guns, black powder guns, long guns, hand guns, big guns, and rail guns.......but I've never heard of a Holy Moly gun. What's it look like?

Carrying a firearm on an airplane is a fast and efficient way to become an ex-LEO.
