Re: NRA endorses Cornyn in US Senate primary
Stockman is my representative, the only way he got elected was because he was the lesser of the two evils. I have been happy with Sen Cornyn and can see no reason to kick him to the curb. Stockman, not so much.

Anyone not openly advocating every day for dramatically smaller government deserves close inspection before renewing their "contract".
Is Cornyn the guy that prefers to "work within the existing framework"? or is he ready to join those that would fight progressivism at every turn?
At the moment, I put Cornyn in the "Politics as usual" category, and that's not a complement. Cruz sets a high bar in that regard.
I'm open to listening, but I'm also open to change.

I wish you would rephrase that.RoyGBiv wrote:...but I'm also open to change.

Remember some months ago when Ted threw John under the bus and then backed over him a couple times? John will play nice when Ted plays nice.SewTexas wrote:while Cornyn will eventually end up with it, no doubt. I'm still not happy with him right now, he's spent a bit of his time throwing Ted under the proverbial bus and I don't appreciate that. And I'm not sure I will vote for him in the primary....I don't know I've got almost a year to decide. I'll see how he behaves until then.

Re: NRA endorses Cornyn in US Senate primary
Losing Cornyn with his seniority and power and getting a freshman Senator would be political suicide for all issues of importance to Texas. Everyone loves what Cruz is saying, me included, but talk is one thing and results are another. Until/unless a large number of other States elect Cruz-like Senators, then we will not see a significant change in Washington politics. Rand Paul was elected to the Senate in 2010 and he was the talk of the town -- for about 10 minutes. Since then there is no evidence that his conservative views are enjoying widespread public support. The 2014 elections will be a litmus test as to how well the Cruz message is selling throughout the country.

I saw a Stockman ad that labeled Cornyn as a liberal. I had to chuckle. If Cornyn is a liberal in Stockman's eyes, then he's leagues to the right of Attila the Hun.

Since this is a firearms forum, I will keep my comment to how I feel about Senator Cornyn when it comes to firearms and the 2nd Amendment. I believe he has done a good job in that respect and I can't find anything in that regard to fault him on. He earned that rating from the NRA.
