Colorado State Senator John Morse concedes

As the name indicates, this is the place for gun-related political discussions. It is not open to other political topics.

Dave Kopel at The Volokh Conspiracy blog has an interesting review of the recall and why it succeeded. Since he is based in Colorado, he has a local/insider view of the event.

One interesting comment he makes:
"The Colorado Senate is now 18-17 Democratic, and 19-16 pro-Second Amendment. On gun issues, and on many others, the balance of power is now held by moderate Democrats, rather than by the hard left faction formerly led by Morse."

Conforming with their "hard left" roots, Kopel says Morse and Giron got booted as much for the way they rammed gun bills through without permitting significant public input, as they did for the bills themselves.

There is much more. Worth a read.

The problem is that, even with these two recalls, the Democrats still control the Colorado legislature. Repeal will most likely be a little while in coming.
:iagree: I would have had a lot more faith in momentum if the attempt to recall would have been successful with 3 of the 5. We might see some more of a shift if the breakaway counties really start to gain momentum. Until then, a strong repeal effort will only occur as a minor miracle. I don't think the majority of the Dems feel as threatened by these results as we all might hope.

If you pay attention to history, it's easy to find a sure way to reduce gun violence. In 1865 a Democrat shot and killed Abraham Lincoln. In 1964 a Communist - turned Democrat - killed John F. Kennedy. In 1983 a registered Democrat shot and wounded Ronald Reagan. In 2007 a registered Democrat named Seung-Hui Cho shot and killed 32 people in Virginia Tech. In 2010 a mentally ill registered Democrat named Jared Lee Loughner shot Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and killed 6 others. In 2011 registered Democrat James Holmes shot and killed 12 people in a movie theater. In 2013 registered Democrat Adam Lanza shot and killed 26 people in a school. One could go on and on, but you get the point, even if the media does not. Clearly, there is a problem with Democrats and guns! Each year thousands are murdered in Chicago. Most of the dead and their killers are African Americans. The same can be said of every large city in America. Blacks voted for Obama to the tune of 97%. They are all Democrats. SOLUTION: It should simply be illegal for Democrats to own guns. Take the guns from Democrats and you've just reduced gun crime by 97%. Reduce gun crime by 97% and the US will have better crime statistics than any other nation on the planet.
Thank you for sharing this!!

Congrats to the people of Colorado!
If you carry a gun, people call you paranoid. Nonsense! If you carry a gun, what do you have to be paranoid about?

Whoa, hold on guys!
I've seen this before and there were several valid arguments to debunk it. Please don't destroy your credibility without verifying the information just because the information supports what you want to believe.

Couldn't find the article that I remember, but there's some conversation about it on the Snopes forum: http://message.snopes.com/showthread.php?t=83968

(I know they lean left, but it's better than nothing.)
