". . . the Epidemic of Gun Violence . . ."

Used multiple times.

If I asked you whether a ship had a red lens, or a red bulb, on its Starboard running light, what would your answer be?

Assumes facts not proven by evidence.

The obvious answer would be that either a red bulb or red lens had better be on the port running light.
But I think that's your point!

TITLE I—BANNING ACCESS TO DO-IT-YOURSELF ASSAULT WEAPONS
SEC. 101. DO-IT-YOURSELF ASSAULT WEAPON BAN.
  • (a) BANNED HAZARDOUS PRODUCTS.—Notwithstanding section 3(a)(5)(E) of the Consumer Product Safety Act (15 U.S.C. 2052(A)(5)(E)), a firearm receiver casting or firearm receiver blank that—
    • (1) at the point of sale does not meet the definition of a firearm in section 921(a) of title 18, United States Code, and
      (2) after purchase by a consumer, can be completed by the consumer to the point at which such casting or blank functions as a firearm frame or receiver for a semiautomatic assault weapon or machine gun,
shall be considered a banned hazardous product under section 8 of such Act (15 U.S.C. 2057).
Any chunk of metal (and a few types of plastic and possibly even wood) would meet that definition. So I guess they're trying to ban home workshops?

Wasn't it the Dems who emptied the mental institutions a couple of decades ago putting thousands of mentally ill people out on the streets homeless left to fend for themselves? Now all of a sudden they are concerned about the mentally ill?

Politicians in general have never been concerned about the mentally ill . . . not even now. They simply feed off of the emotional reaction of the masses and do things that help themselves keep their jobs at the next election. All politicians, with the exception of a few statesmen, cater to what they think the masses want in an effort to be reelected.

The problem here isn't the politicians. The problem is the masses who keep putting those same politicians into office. The same masses who make decisions based on the "facts" they see on the television. The same masses who hold incredible technology in their own hands and are less than 5 minutes away from finding truth via a Google search but don't bother or don't care. Unfortunately, these are the same masses our founding fathers hoped their efforts would create.
John Adams wrote:I must study politics and war that my sons may have liberty to study mathematics and philosophy. My sons ought to study mathematics and philosophy, geography, natural history, naval architecture, navigation, commerce, and agriculture, in order to give their children a right to study painting, poetry, music, architecture, statuary, tapestry, and porcelain.
We have far too many pot smoking, liberal, artsy fartsy individuals in this country who have no concept of the costs others paid before them that afforded them the opportunity to become pot smoking, liberal, artsy fartsy individuals. What we need is a revival in the study of politics and war. A revival in the study of actual history, and in the price of liberty. And a revival of individuals who are willing to pass those concepts on to the next generation . . .

They need to do a study on violence and all it's peramiters. By just citing gun violence they are not even getting into the ballpark.
