Look who knows best -this Yale girl wants to run our lives

She apparently has never done anything but go to Ivy League colleges....but now she's apparently fit to run our lives. I share the opinion of WFB, I'd rather be governed by the first 2,000 names in the phone book than the 2,000 faculty members of Harvard.
Americans may find out in coming years, as the federal government is setting up a 'behavioral insights team' to tinker with the way we accomplish everything from saving money and staying in school to losing weight and becoming more energy-efficient.

A document from Maya Shankar, a late-20s Yale graduate and former violin prodigy, sketches out the Obama administration's grand plans for behavioral science.

Shankar joined the Obama administration in April as a senior policy advisor at the White House Office of Science & Technology Policy.

"Maya Shankar, a late-20s Yale graduate...joined the Obama administration in April as a senior policy advisor..."

Female, late 20's, senior policy advisor.

Barack taking a page out of Bill's play book? At least she has a decent title.

There was a thread posted earlier about the "nudge" and behavior modification by the government. I said it then and I'll say it now. Looking to the UK for examples of how things should be done is a bad idea for the most part IMHO. Now that I know it will be headed up by a person in their 20's with no life experience, the idea seems even worse.....

They're already telling us what we want/need through commercials and opinion polls.
The media plays up the opinion polls to persuade the masses. The British used it to get us to join WWII and Clinton used it to convince us his private affairs were his business not ours.

She's just bringing the administration closer to the youth of America. She will be designing Memes and catchy quotable tweets to use on social media. Didn't Hitler do similar? He was able to persuade children to report their parents for listening to free radio.

I'm teaching my kids to see and debate what they hear spoken on the radio/tv/classroom. My little one heard Hannity say kids were stupid on the radio the other day. She piped up and said "Kids aren't stupid! A kid invented tv!" (Philo Farnsworth). I didn't think she was listening, but she was.
If you carry a gun, people call you paranoid. Nonsense! If you carry a gun, what do you have to be paranoid about?

The re-education that will eventually take place is of a different nature.

You folks do recognize this has been going on since, well, forever? What do you think the tax breaks for married couples are but a govt incentive to a behavior that is believed to be a societal benefit. Mind you the idea of ivory tower intellectuals running the show hardly fills me with confidence but if all this project does is attempt to encourage behavior viewed as beneficial, well that would apply to any public service announcement or even just building a park, promoting health an exercise right?, so over reacting to this is just making you look a bit off.

Listen here, little Missy. I was making intelligent life choices when your mommy was still gagging over your soiled diapers.

The Federal Government is the last bunch of incompetent morons I need telling me how to run my life. They can't even get their own stuff in order.
