Brady Bunch sues Nelson, Georga
Anyone else see this? Brady lawyers are suing Nelson, Georgia for their local law requiring every head of household to own a gun and ammo. They are claiming the law is unconstitutional! It is possibly a violation of the first amendment! here's the link:http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/07/1 ... 86965.html

They have to. If this gets going, they're out of business.
Everybody knows it's a free country, and that the only thing the government can make you do is pay for health insurance.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

If the city loses, all they have to do is turn it into a tax. Then it's perfectly legal.

They just need to make it a tax for not betting a weapon and ammo.JALLEN wrote:They have to. If this gets going, they're out of business.

How does having a gun affect your ability to speak?XDgal wrote:Anyone else see this? I am not a lawyer, nor have I played one on TV, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, nor should anything I say be taken as legal advice. If it is important that any information be accurate, do not use me as the only source.

Some people are scared speechless of guns. Others ought to be, frankly.Dave2 wrote: How does having a gun affect your ability to speak?

There you go! And if you don't there will be a $50/month fine until you are compliant with the ordinance.brainman wrote:If the city loses, all they have to do is turn it into a tax. Then it's perfectly legal.

I don't know how the city can loose with the ordinance. "The ordinance in the town of Nelson, population 1,300, contains no penalties, has exemptions for felons and the mentally ill and allows anyone to opt out. Town leaders said they wanted to make a point about gun rights."

How does the Crazy Bunch have standing to sue?
If they Crazy Bunch wins because of an even crazier judge, they should modify the law like DC did after Heller. Let people opt out if they meet the same requirements and pay the same fees that DC requires to opt in to owning a handgun. That would really make a point.
