Doesn't really seem that there were really any adults present.

I don't know what really happened, I wasn't there, but it sure looks to me like all this could have been handled a lot differently.

Maybe like adults in charge? :biggrinjester:

I could come up with a dozen scenarios where it was clearly the kids fault. The only reason to assume it was the teacher escalating the issue is because it fits a internal narrative you prefer. Heck we don't know that the teacher is even anti gun or NRA, they could just have been trying to enforce what they thought was a school policy. While I thinks it's stupid I bet there are many schools where it would be against policy so it's possible to have an honest misunderstanding without having sinister motives.

I don't think I posted anything about who's fault it was.....just wondering how a adult could let it escalate to the point it did....they are suppose to be in charge.
I prefer that people don't put words into my post.

"Maybe like adults in charge? "Hey you don't have to say your implication was more than enough. Honestly I've heard more than one different description of the story so trying to comment on "how they could let it escalate" when we don't know for sure there was "escalation" seems silly so I won't bother.

So in light of the recent US Supreme Court decision and this case. If you talk to the police excessively you will be charged with obstruction. If you remain silent your silence will be used against you. Nice catch 22 there. :banghead:

Clarification: If you remain silent without invoking Miranda, your silence can be held against you...

Wow, what is going on in Logan County, WV?!
Nearly two weeks before Jared, the 14-year-old at the center of the "T-Shirt Control Controversy", was scheduled to be back in court, he found himself inside of the Logan County Courthouse for an emergency gag order hearing requested by prosecutors Christopher White and Sabrina Deskins.
and
Charlo Greene, on behalf of WOWK and the free press, prepared a petition to intervene for the gag order hearing but before Charlo could present her argument or even deliver her petition to the court clerk, she was thrown out of the Logan County Courthouse, twice, by a bailiff, who said the judge presiding over Jared's case, Eric O'Briant requested it. Charlo was then threatened with arrest and the same charge that Jared is currently on trial for, obstructing an officer.
Looks like to court of public opinion is not favoring the prosecution, and they are now trying to silence the press. Ridiculous.

And meanwhile, children in public schools are physically assaulted and raped, by other students, teachers, and outsiders, and reports of bullying are ignored. A pretty clear indication of what the real priorities are.

Government dropped charges. Seemed to me to be the wise thing to do. Course the wise thing to do if you didn't like the Tshirt and he refused to turn it inside out was to keep him in the principals office till his parents came. Not call the police.

And of course it would be wise if you didn't like people expressing things on tshirts, to ban tshirts with pictures or text in the first place.

Seem to me that the RIGHT thing to do was to leave the kid alone since his shirt did NOT violate school policy. If they don't like the school policy, they are free to change it in the future, but you cannot punish the kid, who had not violated the current school policy, just because you don't like the NRA. None of the other teachers seem to have any issues with the shirt when he went to their classes.
The ordeal began in April when a teacher at Logan Middle School told Marcum to change his shirt. Dress code policy prohibits clothing that displays profanity, violence or discriminatory images or messages, but says nothing about guns.
