Skype with care – Microsoft is reading everything you write

As the name indicates, this is the place for gun-related political discussions. It is not open to other political topics.

No surprise here for me, but everyone dealing with MS should be aware of this. You can bet anything "suspicious" goes right to the Feds.
Anyone who uses Skype has consented to the company reading everything they write. The H's associates in Germany at heise Security have now discovered that the Microsoft subsidiary does in fact make use of this privilege in practice.

I thought Skype was for video chatting. Does that mean they record people's webcams as well?

The article is referring to Skype instant messaging. I didn't see anything in it about video.

Base assumption.... Nothing you say, write or do on the internet is private. NOTHING.

If you require privacy, meet face to face, or use strong encryption. Mozilla makes it (relatively) easy.
https://support.mozillamessaging.com/en ... g-messages" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And anything you store on your computer can be subpoena'd, hacked via your internet connection, etc.
If you have files you don't want anyone to read, use strong encryption, be prepared to forget the password.

:iagree: but I sometimes err out of expediency and convenience.

the fact is nothing on your computer is secure.as a computer tech i get plenty of laughs by some peoples attempts to secure their computer.if you want secure you need to meet that person face to face and make sure your cell was off before you even left and make sure the other person doesnt have any recording devices.oh yea and then some camera in the parking lot will be recording you.lol
