Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, noting that Vice President Joe Biden reportedly plans to revive a legislative push for gun control, challenged him to a debate about policy responses to gun violence.

“I would like to invite the vice president to engage in an hour long conversation and debate, ‘How do we stop crime’,” Cruz said at the National Rifle Association Leadership Forum today. “If Vice President Biden really believes that the facts are on his side . . . then I would think he would welcome the opportunity to talk about the sources, the causes of violent crime, who is carrying it out, and how we can do everything humanly possible to stop it.”

Cruz indicated that he doesn’t regard Biden as a formidable opponent, noting that Biden’s home defense advice — firing a shot gun twice into the air — “is very useful, if it so happens that you’re being attacked by a flock of geese.”

Ain't gonna happen, unless Biden gets editorial control, or is able to manipulate the "debate" in some manner that blanks out Cruz. If it does happen us gun nuts will be the only people to see it. There is no way the MSM is going to broadcast an actual fair and honest debate between these two, even if Biden is stupid enough to play the fool.

I share it mostly because of the line I bolded, not so much that I think it might actually occur. If it did, Biden would likely make a fool of himself like he did in the "debate" with Paul Ryan, grinning and grimacing and making a fool of himself.

That is a good line and I intend to borrow for use at every opportunity.

That's an insult to Walter. Walter is much smarter than that.

I'm sure you are correct. The MSM would carefully edit the whole thing down to a couple of well-crafted little clips. They would portray the exact opposite of what would really happen, that being Crazy Joe getting his clock cleaned by Senator Cruz.

I was there. Many speakers at the Leadership Forum, and Ted Cruz was definitely one of the best!

Yet every time something untoward happens, everyone runs for the city council/state legislature/Congress and demands the government do something to prevent whatever it was that happened, everything from mass murders and cross burnings to some guy driving 45 mph in the fast lane, whatever, the government must DO something about it, and freedom is the first casualty.

One day next week I'm going to buy a Thank You card, maybe even a bouquet of flowers, and drive over to Mr. Cruz' Dallas office. Suggestions on appropriate flowers welcome.

Roses. Add a note that the most prized flowers are also the thorniest ones. ;-)
