it appears that someone is trying to put back what was removed, in the past you had a duty to retreat before using any deadly force no matter where you were. now it looks like that if you are trying to defend a 3rd party you have to run away before using deadly force, hmmmmm maybe that OSHA complaint by the robbers, muggers and burglars union has actually been received and acted upon by the Emperors OSHA cronies

I'm asking this as a question so please bare with me if my terminology is incorrect.

Would this open the legal system up for injured criminals or family members of injured/deceased criminals to take civil action against a homeowner that protected themselves inside of their dwelling? Are you expected to say hello to the bad guy, offer him a cup of coffee while he beats you, robs you, molests your dog and then steals your motorized Rascal? This sounds a new opportunity for lawyers to put up new billboards and air new commercials. Now you can get paid for getting shot during a home invasion if the jury see's it in your favor.....

Maybe I'm misinterpreting it? Seems like it's plausible.

it very may well give an opening to those who get lead injection due to attempting to seriously injure or kill a person by a third party to sue for damages, I hope it doesn't go through the house and senate and gets laughed off the floor, but I fear that it may not as we have wimps in the Texas house and senate. I never liked or agreed with the requirement to retreat from a hostile force and still don't, it always made the responsible actor the criminal as opposed to the actual criminal aggressor responsible to run away, or an abrogation of the right to life of the victim

I wrote a letter to everyone on the judicial committee as well as my senator and representative asking that this bill be defeated. It does not hurt to keep the fire under their feet. This is a bad bill.

I think Gov Perry will veto it if this horrible bill gets to his desk. But we have to try to nip it in the bud
