Sorry, no Chinese Jews! I confirmed this many years ago growing up in NYC. I asked the waiter at our local Chinese restaurant if they had Chinese Jews. He answered in his best English, "No, sorry, we have a Tomato Jews, Kumquat Jews, and Orange Jews, but we no have a Chinese Jews." Being Jewish myself, I learned something that day :biggrinjester:

Jews and Judaism in China have had a long history. Jewish settlers are documented in China as early as the 7th or 8th century CE. Relatively isolated communities developed through the Tang and Song Dynasties (7-12th cent. CE) all the way through the Qing Dynasty (19th cent.), most notably in the Kaifeng Jews (the term "Chinese Jews" is often used in a restricted sense to refer to these communities). By the time of the establishment of the People's Republic of China in 1949, few if any native Chinese Jews were known to have maintained the practice of their religion and culture. In the late 20th and early 21st centuries, however, some international Jewish groups have helped Chinese Jews rediscover their heritage.

There are no Mohammed Changs.

Me too. :biggrinjester:

I'm pretty sure by the leftist definition of "white guy", that if someone is of the Islamic faith, then they don't count as a "white guy". By "white guy", I'm sure they mean something like European-descent, middle-aged, conservative/libertarian, likely Christian and possibly a military veteran...all the things that keep Janet Napolitano up at night, worrying.

If you look at the difference between Obama's reaction to the deaths from the explosions in Boston, and his reaction to the deaths from the explosion in West, it's brutally obvious that he's only concerned about deaths that let him push his political agenda.

To look at it another way, if we optimistically assume people live to 100, then 1% of the population dies every year. The Boston metropolitan area has a population around 4.5 million. 1% of that is 45,000 per year or 123 on an average day. Nobody is denying the attack by the Tsarnaeva brothers was an atrocity, but the political reaction seems motivated by the hope it could be blamed on a domestic "militia" and therefore exploited to violate the civil rights of average Americans.

That's probably the real reason many at Salon were hoping the bombers were white guys.
