Things are really getting out of hand.

When I was a kid (envision old crumggin voice) we had to wear shirts with collars on them.
Now they allow tee shirts and tee shirts with words and pictures printed on them. So now you have an issue about is the tee shirt offensive.
Since it wasn't in the handbook, I'd say the school district should pay the kid a whole pile of money and fire the teacher.
If they don't, I hope the NRA pays for his attorney and sues all the way to the Supremes.

Re: 8th-grader suspended, arrested, charged for NRA shirt
I think it really is a bigger problem. Our society has learned to be offended by seemingly insignificant things. I think people have learned to use the "I'm offended as a (race/color/religion/gender) because..." excuse just because it makes them mildly uncomfortable to see people who don't conform to their little bubble.philip964 wrote: Now they allow tee shirts and tee shirts with words and pictures printed on them. In West Virginia? Every road sign in the county will be riddled with bullet holes in protest, oh wait, that just normal wear and tear.

1) Charges would be dismissed,
2) NRA would support the legal fund to defend the student right.
3) Kid and his father would Federally sue said ISD for civil right abuse.
4) ISD would settle out of court, or
5) The fight would escalate to the SCOTUS, where 1st Amendment right is affirmed and the ISD is sanctioned.

Re: 8th-grader suspended, arrested, charged for NRA shirt
Obviously, this is ridiculous and I don't support it.
But, with all of the suspensions for finger-guns and pastries chewed into the shape of a gun, their reaction, which unreasonable is at least fairly commonplace.
I do wonder whether an NRA shirt without the gun image would have resulted in the same reaction.
With everything that has been publicized about zero tolerance regarding knives and guns, any student that pushes these limits is either looking for attention or is, at the least, misguided.
A more correct thread title would have been "8th-grader suspended, arrested, charged for shirt containing gun image'

Re: 8th-grader suspended, arrested, charged for NRA shirt
I can't imagine any DA going forward with prosecuting this kid. However, the Libs keep using this tactic to intimidate and silence kids and families who support RKBA. It is politicized child abuse and is disgraceful. I wish the NRA would organize a national RKBA day and every family that supports the NRA or RKBA would send their kids to school wearing an NRA or RKBA t-shirt with AR-15's printed on them. They couldn't suspend and arrest all of them and it would teach our children it's ok to stand up to petty tyrants and stupid liberals. Maybe then this nonsense would stop. We need a Chic-Fil-A day for guns.
End of Rant.

If a school district is going to be vague and subjective than just go to uniforms.
Dress code has gotten out of hand. One day their ok with the way a student dresses and the next day their suspended for wearing the very same thing. Schools need to pick and choose their battles.
A shirt expressing your 2A rights is bad but a girl wearing a skirt so short it leaves nothing to the imagination is ok.
I am sick and tired of this battle with the Pearland ISD.
