I've emailed the volunteer coordinator at NRA-HQ to ask about volunteer opportunities... Both for this event and just in general.
Anyone know if there's an NRA volunteer coordinator in the DFW area I should be talking with? Contact info?
Gracias.

Apologies that I didn't see this previously.
NRA planned to not have any promotion or membership drive at the race so no volunteers were needed.
I'll defer any comment on that choice except to say I'm still looking for volunteer opportunities in the DFW area.

We went yesterday. The NRA did have a booth where you could sign up/renew memberships. I got a free NRA Sports pin and a free hat for renewing my membership. Oh and as a side note Matt and Jessie from Friends of NRA were there too. Kinda cool. :). I just wish I could have carried. I carry everywhere and felt odd without it.
Funny...the article was more about the NRA than the suicide...But then again, headlines can be deceiving...

RK-
Were they offering lifetime memberships for $300? So glad I got in on that deal.

Fox definitely spent the day avoiding the word "NRA" in their promos and pre-race coverage. Also, several sponsors told their drivers not to be photographed under any sign that had "NRA" on it. Even worse, NASCAR said in one article that they'll now review their guidelines for tracks to choose sponssoship deals.
As is custom for all race sponsors, the NRA was offered the chance to buy the premium ad package from Fox Sports that would include commercial time, sponsor mentions and graphics with the race name. The NRA declined, and thus the race was presented without a sponsor on in-race graphics and the Fox broadcast mentioned the title sponsor once an hour.
