Maryland decides to tax residents when it rains
A "storm management fee" will be imposed on Maryland residents by Gov. Martin O'Malley — meaning that Maryland is essentially going to tax the rain that falls on people’s property.

I am speechless, some of the comments were a breathing tax :rules: "rlol"

Completely idiotic...

Now, if only the good politicians in Maryland could make it rain on demand, they would have an awesome revenue stream. Come to think of it, they will probably realize that, fund research on how to make it rain on demand, the research will go no where and they will have wasted more money than they raised with the "rain tax". Sounds about right for today's liberal politicians.

Hate to break it to you, but a rain tax was already passed here in Houston, Texas about a year or so ago. A lot of people that voted for it were unhappy when they found out how much their bill went up. The new funding is to be in its own fund so that it can't be tapped for other general uses and is only supposed to be used on drainage improvement projects. They already had taxes that were supposed to support that purpose, but those all got funneled away to something else of course.

xb12s beat me to it. Sometimes I think the drought was God's way of protesting the rain tax. ;-)

Fort Worth has a similar tax - I was under the impression that most of the larger cities/towns in Texas did the same thing.

They could tax every drop and still not have enough to fund all the idiotic things government has promised to spend money on.

It takes a village, and a lot more besides. They have gone from getting feathers from a goose with the least squawking to killing the goose to take all the feathers.

It is government by the public employees unions, of the public employees unions and for the public employees unions here. If it weren't for our money, the government would have no use for us at all.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.
