The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

Re: You're on your own
I probably should have added a description. This is "undercover" video by James O'Keefe (started when he exposed ACORN). This one asked various police agencies from NY to NC what we should do after calling 911 until the police show up.

Re: You're on your own
You bet I am on my own. To give credit to my city PD, on none emergency line they were here in less than 10 mins. Still too much time, but still better than 30 mins to 1 hr. I would say, I can repulse any attack that does not include armored vehicles or hellfire missiles/

I only listened to about half the video, but the biggest problem I heard in that segment of it was that the responders seemed more concerned with their authority than the citizen's safety.

Re: You're on your own
When I called Ft Worth because some dopehead shot at me, the 911 operator could hear the shots and hear them hitting the house. They took over an hour to show up and did nothing after they arrived. On the other hand, I have been stopped by Ft Worth many, many times for random vehicle inspections, 7 days in a row once. Imo, anyone who thinks that calling 911 will protect them is extremely foolish.

Sounds like an interesting topic for another thread.SRH78 wrote:I have been stopped by Ft Worth many, many times for random vehicle inspections, 7 days in a row once.

Anyone who thinks they are safe just because they have a good police department is a fool. It's 2 minutes drive (at legal speeds) from my house to the local police station. 2 minutes too long when seconds count.
I am not a lawyer. This is NOT legal advice.!

2 min drive. Then add prep time and notification time if anyone is immediately available.RoyGBiv wrote:Sounds like an interesting topic for another thread.SRH78 wrote:I have been stopped by Ft Worth many, many times for random vehicle inspections, 7 days in a row once.![]()

Same deal here; I'm about 2 minutes from the local police substation - I would bet my life that it more likely that the police will pull my wife over for speeding in the neighborhood - again
, than it is for them to make it to my house in time to stop a home invasion.
