Do NFA items= problems in the future?
I am on the verge of purchasing a suppressor for a build. My younger brother, who is very Pro 2A, believes that in the current political climate that purchasing NFA items (which by default require registration) I could be setting myself up as a primary target should a general ban on guns happen in my lifetime.

I'd say your brother is wise.
I asked the same question a while back... And I decided against NFA.
However, there are thousands of NFA owners in Texas. To each their own.

It's one way to get on The List but some will say the same about CHL.

I'm fairly outspoken about the 2nd Amendment and the Government in General. I figure i'm probably on most of their gun lists anyway. Whats it gonna hurt to get on one more? I'm gonna be looking for a suppressor when i get out of school.

You are already on "the list" anyway when you realize that you have a CHL and all your forum posts are monitored by the NSA. So you might as well live your life as you see fit. If they day arrives where they are coming to take all of us away for re-education, then we will take appropriate action then.

No, NFA items don't change things so long as you've given the govt the money for the tax stamp.
NFA items withOUT a tax stamp is another matter entirely

although having class 3 items the atf knows what those are they dont make any of your other stuff more known. unless you do somthing really stupid i dought you will ever have a problem.most people who own class 3 stuff know all to well what doing somthing stupid will cost you.

They way I see it is: If the ATF is coming to physically collect your Class III items, you have a MUCH bigger problem on your hands.

Interesting topic. I was curious as to what Big Brother knows about me. Monday, letters go out to 7 various agencies for a FOIA request.

I am just realizing this from a company we hired to help us with our business web presence. It has been amazing to see how everything we post and do on the web can be traced back to us. Now with the growing social networking presence it is even more prevalent.RX8er wrote:Interesting topic. I was curious as to what Big Brother knows about me. There are some very interesting websites that will show you just how much info that data-miners collect and how they link it all together.
There are also some sites that make it easy to print off FOIA letters and certification statements to send off to Big Brother.

Re: Do NFA items= problems in the future?
Just because you own a can for a 223 for instance, who is to say you own or ever owned a rifle to use it on? They certainly don't, and if it came to collecting nfa items there will be much larger problems at hand. Same goes with the chl, just because I have one doesn't mean I have a gun, and no one needs to know any different.

Re: Do NFA items= problems in the future?
If you really are worried about being on "the list" then I would argue we are in dire enough times to not only get suppressors but everything else you will need to prepare. A citizenry that fears their government for the sake of their God given freedoms isn't really free.
Besides, the longer the list, the better it is for our cause. Imagine if *everyone* was on that list. What would they do then?
So yes, go for the NFA goodies (trust route) and get 5 friends to do the same!
(and obviously...by posting this I just guaranteed me a prime spot on that list!)
