They should relocate right next to LaRue Tactical (just up the road from my house). Plenty of room, friendly locals, and LaRue and Magpul already team up on some great products - more the merrier.

Some gun companies are run by people who have no personal interest in guns or the Second Amendment. It's just a convenient way to make money for them.

I said that they should contact Governor Perry, and he could probably get some kind of a tax-break deal worked out for them if they relocated. Hey, maybe if enough people contact them, who knows what could happen? We can keep our fingers crossed, anyway.

Well, it looks like it just passed by voice vote. I guess they will have an official vote next week, but Magpul may be leaving CO.

Here's an update that I saw pop up in my news feed. The Colorado House just passed the magazine limit 34-31, with three Democrats voting no (update is at bottom of link).

http://michellemalkin.com/2013/02/18/no ... ills-pass/

I fired off a feedback on the Texas Governors page to see if he might consider courting Magpul to come to Texas if this becomes law. I figured Perry might be interested since he didn't have much recent luck with getting any companies from California to move. A gun friendly company who is actively looking to relocate 600 jobs and $85 million in business would be a huge win for our state.

Riled me up enough to send this..
Dear Governor Hickenlooper,
Will you be the man to stand up to the foolishness that is HB 1224, HB 1226, HB 1228 and HB 1229?

Your State House just voted in favor of HB-1224's magazine limit, 34 to 31. Does this represent a strong enough majority to justify infringing on the Second Amendment protections of law abiding citizens? Has the tyranny of the majority taken a foothold in Colorado? Has anyone given you statistical proof (evidence of efficacy of these laws seems to be absent from this discussion, your House is operating on fear-mongering and politics) that any of these measures will reduce gun crime or gun violence, or will you be voting in favor of new laws solely out of political fear?

You have a unique opportunity at hand. You can choose to be the first Democrat Governor to reject feel-good, do-nothing gun legislation and make a strong stand against legislation that has no basis in fact. Are you so afraid of losing your job that you're prepared to diminish the rights of your law abiding citizens for the politics of "doing something for the children"? I pray you find the courage to stand opposed to such feel-good foolishness.

After spending a good deal of time visiting your beautiful state over the past 25 years, my family and I are considering Colorado as our next home. Not only will our relocation plans change, but we'll also vote with out wallets and take our vacation plans elsewhere as well. We simply cannot support this ignorance. Utah, Montana, Idaho and Wyoming are beautiful places too. Or, perhaps this will be just the thing that pushes the necessary investments into a New Mexico turnaround, who knows? We'll certainly be disappointed, as we've truly enjoyed our time in Colorado. We'll be looking for opportunities to help the good citizens of Colorado oust those lawmakers that would so self-righteously stand on the graves of crime victims to deprive honest people of their rights without any evidence that these laws actually work.

Sincerely,
RGB

Wow. I am speechless. Maybe he was concerned that his own inappropriate behavior during his college days could have gotten him legitimately shot in self defense... I'd venture a guess that most sexual predators don't think of themselves as really hurting anyone. When it's reelection time, women in his district need to do what's right and send him home.

Why do you say that? I highly doubt any company is going to be able to just pack up and move in a few days. Doesn't mean that there aren't any companies going to move in the near future once they've crunched the numbers, run it by the shareholders, scouted locations, done up a plan for a move, etc.

It took over a year of planning to get my former company moved to Texas from California, and that was AFTER we had arrived at the decision to move. It's a lot harder than you think, particularly if there is heavy production equipement involved. You need to arrange rigging crews to take down the equipment and put it on 60' flatbeds. You have to pack up everything else. You have to arrange to outsource your production until you can get your own equipment set up. Then you have to have a rigging crew hired at the other end to offload the equipment and place it on the production floor where it is going to go. You have to bring in electrical contractors to bring 240 volt lines to those machines, etc., etc., etc., and on and on and on. It is a HUGE effort, and it takes weeks to get your production back online once you shut down your production in the old plant.

Not surprisingly, Magpul's executives haven't been sitting around wringing their hands while their state's legislators drive to put them out of business. Here's what the company had to say on Facebook:

"We’re hearing some rumors that the Gov and the Dem caucus think we are bluffing. Just to clarify for them, then…we’re not a political company. We don[']t play political games. We’ve made our position very clear, very publicly. We would not survive lying to our customer base, nor would we ever consider it. If you pass this, we will leave, and you will own it. We’ve already got plans in place to get PMAG manufacturing moved rapidly, and the rest of the company will follow. We will make sure to at least have a small remain-behind operation through the 2014 elections so that we can remind folks why we are gone."

Magpul has indicated their move won't be a long, drawn out process. Think about it. Their plastic molding is outsourced, so they can pick up their molds and take them to another partner in another state. They don't need to take the machines because they don't own them, and similar machines are already in place in other locations just waiting for their business.

Details here.

The thugs in the legislature are going to be wearing the huge jobs and tax hole they gratuitously put in their state if the legislation is finally approved. That should go over real well in the next election.

I don't understand why everything is forgiven if they back down. Suppose a neighbor threatened me with a knife and I pulled my gun to stop the threat. If they abandon the encounter like the law says, I'm no longer be justified in shooting them, but I wouldn't invite them to my next BBQ either.
