New York deputies arrest man for illegal 30 round mags.

As the name indicates, this is the place for gun-related political discussions. It is not open to other political topics.

Right. He's a decorated combat vet retired on disability who was recently honored for his charitable work with disabled vets. The poster boy for dangerous vets.

This case is the anti-gun crowd's worst nightmare. That's why you haven't heard anything about it in the mainstream media. If he had been even the least bit shady, his arrest would have been plastered across the front page of every liberal rag and running in the streamer at the bottom of every liberal tv show. As it is, most Americans, if you asked them if they had heard about the arrest of Nathan Haddad, would say, Who?

Search for Nathan Haddad on Google. Notice the remarkable absence of any mention of his name on any major media outlet.

Then search Google for NY man arrested for 30 round mags. No mention there either, even without his name.

The very first arrest for illegally carrying "high capacity" magazines in NY, right in the middle of a huge national brouhaha over gun control and right after New York just passed a new law restricting magazine size even more, and not one national newspaper and not one national tv station even covers it? Nothing in the New York Times? The Washington Post? The LA Times? ABC? NBC? CBS? Fox? CNN? USA Today? Not even an AP article?

You'd better believe, they want to bury this story so deep it will never be resurrected. They won't crucify Haddad. They'll dismiss the charges against him quietly, late on a Friday night so the news can't even pick it up until Monday. Then,IF they run a story at all, they'll spin it as if it was no big deal, a little misunderstanding - turns out the mags were legal after all, etc., etc., yadda yadda yadda....

What a crowd! The Fudds, as some here refer to pre-ban NRA members, have spoken!

I did a quick search. Couldn't find any copies of the arrest affidavit or report on the net. I would love to read that!

I have been an NRA member for several years now. What do you mean by pre-ban? I certainly don't consider myself a "Fudd". Fudds, as I understand the term, are those who think that people only need a bolt action for hunting, break-open shotguns for skeet/trap shooting, etc. and that its quite okay to ban semi-automatic rifles because "no one needs them to hunt with".

I did as you suggested. It's unbelievable how Google doesn't have thousands of articles. You don't need to be wearing a tinfoil hat to see this is clearly an attempt by the media to exclude any story that doesn't fit their predetermined narrative. Of course, Emily Miller of the Washington Times has an article about him!

Your understanding of Fudd is the same as mine. And technically every NRA member is currently pre-ban (hopefully the current legislation won't pass, though) or, if currently a member, post-ban (if the point of reference is the 1993 AWB and not the latest proposals).

I'm seriously speechless.
I occasionally visit friends in that area, I didn't grow up there or anything but they tell stories about State troopers and how they seem anxious to issue tickets for revenue. "Don't exceed the speed limit in Fort Drum by even 1 mph!" I am also aware that law enforcement keeps a tight reign on hunters as it seems there is a lot of poaching that occurs up there. It is a big hunting area for deer and bear.
I believe there is safety in numbers..
numbers like: 9, .22, .38, .357, .45, .223, 5.56, 7.62, 6.5, .30-06...

Correct. "Fudd" has nothing to do with being an NRA-member per se - just the attitude that K Mooneyham describes.

Joe Biden is a Fudd ("He'll never get my Beretta shotgun!")
John Kerry is a Fudd
etc
President Obama is a Fudd wannabe.

As I see it, Pre-ban NRA members, those members in N.Y. who supported "AWB" gun control until they saw the NYS Safe Act. The Fudds, My comment specifically directed towards the folks in attendance at the N.Y. meeting(one or two of whom were actually, dressed/in costume, as Elmer)not any participants on this board.

Yes, that's what I thought it meant. I guess I should have emphasized "always."
