What anti-gun politicians really have on their mind is replacing the existing statute with a performance test to determine whether a bullet can penetrate soft body armor. For example, the District considers a “restricted bullet” to be one that can penetrate 18 layers of Kevlar from a pistol (though in December, the D.C. Council reversed itself and adopted the federal definition of a prohibited bullet).

Such a test is a sneaky way to outlaw common rifles. Many ordinary rifle rounds can penetrate a soft armor vest because rifles are significantly more powerful than handguns. Law enforcement and the military use ceramic plates for vests meant to protect against such powerful rounds.

Yeah, again, it's the ammo stuff that appears to be one of the biggest threats. But if lead is so bad, I might be willing to compromise and accept bullets made from depleted uranium, or some other heavy metals, or explosive rounds without lead.

This article also mentions public divestiture from gun manufacturers. Who are the publicly held gun manufacturers and is it safe to say that their stock prices are artificially low right now? Not asking for investment advice, just someone's take on this.

Wouldn't they weigh more if we didn't deplete the uranium first? Seems like depleting something would be counterproductive when you're trying to keep its density high...

The December sales surge hasn't declined and the smart money in the market is backing the 2nd Amendment.
