TAM got it right when he said:
The Annoyed Man wrote: the Constitution did not create the right, it enshrined it. The right was deemed to preexist the founding of the nation. It is God-given, or natural, if you prefer that term. And it isn't just an American right. It is a HUMAN right.
They could completely remove the bill of rights and we would still retain all of our rights. The bill of rights exists as a restraint against government infringement of what we already have. Of course, that's only if the government agrees to follow the rule of law.

What we have today are a bunch of unconstitutional laws passed by elites who don't respect the constitution that are simply tolerated by the masses who think we live in a democracy. They have no understanding of what a constitutional republic is. Even if culturally 99% of Americans decided not to own guns, the very nature of our constitutional republic would protect the right of the 1%, because it is a natural right that 100% have. The 99% have the right to choose for themselves if they want to own guns or not, but they do not have the moral authority to force their choice on the 1%.

The good news is, however, that the internet and outlets like this site are educating more and more people who are finding these unconstitutional laws more and more obnoxious each day . . .
