Now you know how Jim Bowie must have felt.
Yes sir, but he had an option, we will not.
What was his option? He could have stayed away from the Alamo, minded his own business, stayed with his Mexican wife where he belonged and lived to a ripe old age, making knives and skinning alligators or whatever they did back then.

Of course, we don't know for sure exactly how it played out. We have only the Walt Disney/John Wayne versions to go by, and those are suspect since we now know that Crockett didn't go down swinging Old Betsy like Disney and Wayne claimed.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When the gov't starts killing gun owners, the story will be that they were dangerous terrorists or lunatics with a gun, that were about to cause mayhem, and he was killed when the police went to arrest/stop him -- probably by his own hand.
I know that will be how the State Controlled Media will play it but by then the real story will get out!

Well, it is easy to de-personalize everything and mentally turn "blue helmets" into an object to be eliminated.

But that isn't how a civil war would really look. It would be up close and personal, brother against brother, very ugly.

If people really think we are heading towards armed insurrection and civil war, you should forget about impersonal blue helmets and start thinking about the local enemies in your own county.

For example, do you know who the far left activists in your local county are? Name, address, travel routes, vulnerabilities? Using Harris County as an example, there is a local SEIU office on San Felipe St in Houston. Who runs that office? Where does he live? How about the Harris County Democratic Party Executive Committee? Are any of them in your neighborhood? Who are the editors at the Chronicle, where do they live, how do they travel?

You get the idea. If you don't think that the "powers that be" don't already have me, you, and the rest of us on an enemies list . . .

If people really think this is where the country is headed, now is the time to be gathering intelligence and planning.

Some people are going to read what I just wrote and be horrified at the thought. Others won't. Where to draw the line will always boil down to an individual decision. Personally, IMO, we haven't crossed that line yet. The reality will be somewhere between today versus lining up in front of the ditch we were just ordered to dig.

I would hope that Any Bill that passes and is signed or any Executive Order would immediately be challenged in the courts, by the NRA and others, all the way to the Supremes with injunctions to prevent it from becoming law before it is reviewed. This could take a year or more to get thru the system. The current court has a pretty good record on 2A, however, if Obama gets to appoint two liberal judges before they rule all bets are off.
We need to follow the process carefully before acting, contacting our Congress and our State Leaders to make sure they tow the line on 2A.

If so when they came to my house, I would assume my dogs would get maybe one, I think I may be able to get two or three before they got me. If everyone else thought this way, wouldn't they soon run out of people going door to door to confiscate them? I don't see that day playing out in my lifetime, nor do I see very many of our active law enforcement or military that would be willing to execute that task, so who would do it? The UN maybe? I like those guys, that pastel blue stands out really well and would make a very nice target against that red chevron. If, and I feel it is a big if, that day comes, it will be long into the future. I think now they will focus more on chipping away, via magazine capacity restrictions, types of actions available to civilians, and extreme tax on ammunition. So that when that day comes, it will be all that much easier.
Very simply and effectively. Nobody is going to go door to door. Here's how it will play out:

1. They pass the bill.
2. You refuse to register your guns - most of you will because you are law abiding. Only a fraction of people will refuse to register - I'll give it 2% at the high side.
3. They don't really care because a) they don't really know you have them and b) there's no need.
4. If one of you get caught for something silly and they find the guns you didn't register, it would instantly become international news and you would be completely demonized and punished for the world to see.
5. More of you will register again as a amnesty would be given.

By then, it is done.
With all due respect, I don't think you know what you're talking about. Let me get the "law-abiding" part out of the way right up front. Martin Luther King Jr. broke all kinds of laws during his civil rights ministry, and he got arrested for it. But MLK did these things because it was the right thing to do. He was derided by many for his "trouble-making," but today that trouble maker has a national holiday named after him and streets named after him in every major city. Nobody remembers the "law-abiders" who opposed him, because they have been properly relegated to the ash heap of history. Mankind is certainly capable of writing perfectly evil laws. When this happens, the Right Thing to Do may very well be illegal. Corrie ten Boom broke the Third Reich's laws when she hid Jews and sheltered them from the evil of the "Final Solution." There is such a thing as a higher morality which surpasses legality. If ever called on to decide between obeying the law and surrendering to evil on one hand, and breaking the law and fighting for good on the other hand, Heavenly Father please help me to always decide in favor of what is right—even if it is illegal. If you agree to obedience to evil and unjust laws, then you are no better than those who turned in runaway slaves or ratted out Jews to the SS.

"They" may well pass a registration bill, but the vast majority will refuse to register them. A few will......that small percentage that agrees with you. More AR15s were sold in the past 2 weeks—at twice the normal market value, I might add—than in the prior 2-3 years. All those people didn't buy guns at massively inflated prices so that they could register them. They bought them precisely to get them—and squirrel them away if necessary—before the nation's quislings make it impossible to buy more of them. You want to see what registration would look like here? Look no further than Canada, where the vast majority of firearms which were supposed to be registered never actually were.......because their owners simply refused to cooperate.

I will not cooperate either. Most of those whom I know will not cooperate either. The ones I know who probably will, are either democrats, or who simply think like you do that the end is inevitable so there's no point in resistance. To either group, the gun-grabbers or the ones who would surrender without a fight, I would quote Samuel Adams:
Samuel Adams wrote:"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Barring a disabling/killing event like a stroke or heart attack, I don't think that Scalia, Thomas, or Kennedy are willing to retire in the next 4 years. I believe that, barring such a catastrophe, they are all four young enough to still be able to do their jobs for the next four years. Here is what scares me: the possibility that some hardcore leftist goes rogue in the administration, covertly arranging for the assassination of a couple of the Court's conservatives, and giving Obama that opportunity to appoint a couple of new justices.

Yeah, well, I can't say I'll be surprised if one of the five gets "mugged" and "killed" all of the sudden.

A couple of months back I read two books that I would highly recommend to others at this point in time.

I actually read them "together" you might say - reading a few chapters of one...... and then a few chapters of the other, and so on. More or less "weaving" the narratives together in my mind.

The effect was somewhat of a time-warp experience back & forth from 1836 ...and today's political reality.

"By Force of Patriots " by Cameron Reddy - a chillingly accurate fictionalization of where we now find ourselves, and " The Blood of Heroes " by James Donovan- an excellent depiction of the reality surrounding the 1836 war for Texas independence.

Like many , I never thought there was any conceivable way that Obama could win the 2012 election - and I still have my doubts about the TRUE ballot count.

Regardless ...here we are again - for another 4 years at least.

Personally - I am not optimistic that the Republican Party can regain the White House in 2016. We've witnessed the GOP primary process select the weakest candidate
IMO the last two elections, and there is the matter of election integrity- and HONESTY that must be dealt with - but likely will not .

The GOP has a knack for opting for a lackluster candidate with attributes deemed "marketable" to so-called "moderate" electorate.

Herman Cain could have done better. Newt Gingrich could have done better. I even thick Rick Perry could have done better.

It may well be time for the Libertarian Party - with perhaps Senator Rand Paul at the helm.

A viable 3 - party election immediately presents the spectre of a guaranteed Obama-like win.
We will go through the same exercise starting in about two years - Whether to stay with the GOP, or consign it to the dust bin of history.

Marco Rubio looks great - until you learn his parents were not yet U.S. citizens at the time of his birth. I know, with what we've been subjected to with Obama -why even be concerned about "natural born" citizenship any further.

The problem with the GOP is the RINO element prevalent in the Florida primary that will inevitably dissqualify any strong conservative candidate.

A book I recommend that is part of a trilogy that i'm reading is "Enemies Foreign and Domestic" by Matthew Bracken.

Five plus years ago, I joined an outdoor recreation club here in Houston call Bayou City Outdoors. I thought it would be fun to learn about kayaking, back packing, etc. and this club offered that. They communicated through Facebook so I set up a Facebook to keep up with what was going on with the group. I soon learned that many in that club were very liberal. One day, one of the ring leaders (a very wealthy attorney in Houston) put a post on Facebook about what a horrible bunch the Oath Keepers were. I had never heard of them so I looked them up on the internet. I replied back that I thought they were a good group, doing what they should be doing. That started a long Facebook conversation between the two of us. During that conversation, he told me that there would come a time where the liberals would over through the country and that the UN would invade to help with the takeover. He said that they hoped that the conservatives would lay down their arms and not fight. It was like hearing a liberal version of Survivors by Rawles with the liberals prevailing and seemed to be a far out liberal fantasy at the time. After a number of exchanges, he unfriended me and I lost the chain of communications. I wish I had saved that chain of communications in a word document as it was interesting reading.

Those folks (liberals/progressive/whatever you want to call them) are very serious about what they want to do to this country. On the plus side, he bought a Glock 9mm. He then went to the range and posted a picture of the target he shot from 10 yards. Looked like someone shot it with buckshot from 25 yards with a cylinder bore chock. I hope that they all shoot like that.

If this guy is as well connected as he says he is, what we are seeing now is just part of the liberal plan to take over the country and they (liberals) are alive and well here in Houston.

I don't doubt for a second that this is part of his and other liberal's fantasies, but that's what it is, a fantasy. They are so firmly entrenched in the belief of their own intellectual and moral superiority that they can't conceive of any effective opposition. Introducing foreigners into their plans will cement their defeat. I hope they are as stupid as the attorney idiot you're talking about, because that stupidity will save the country.

Rehnquist died at age 80, while he was still the sitting Chief Justice. Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr., (served 1902-1932) was 90 when he retired. I'm not saying that we shouldn't be praying for Scalia's good health—we should—but as long as he is in good health, his current age isn't necessarily going to take him off the bench any time soon. My sense is that he wouldn't give his detractors the satisfaction of stepping down while there was any chance of his being replaced by a leftist.
