Congressman Raul Grijalva and state Sen. Sylvia Allen are battling over the creation of a volunteer militia to guard the border.

Grijalva calls the idea "not just silly and irresponsible, it’s a public safety threat. To arm individuals, provide paper-thin weapons training and deliberately place them in danger disrespects the taxpayers of our great state and cheapens the professionalism of our border security agents.”

Allen responds: "'Open borders' Grijalva can spin his opposition any way he likes, but Arizonans know that we have a huge problem here with drug cartels, allied with terrorists, smuggling drugs and terrorizing the inhabitants of this state."
I am not a lawyer. This is NOT legal advice.!

I know were moving forward with our own laws, but Arizona has us beat in the gun freedom arena.

CC/OC with no permit required...sure would be nice!

Funny picture but doesn't it violate forum rule 1?
Tyranny is identified by what is legal for government employees but illegal for the citizenry.

Texas has a legal militia, its called the Texas State Guard, we however do not get much funding, we are NOT allowed to carry weapons. We are a civil augmentation force, we are a Texas Military Force under the Adjutant Generals Office. Our funding for the fiscal year of 2012 is just shy of 750 thousand, yes thousand. Texas doesn't have enough money to give us more, the current Administration in Texas refuses to give us more or allow us to be armed, they feel if we are armed then we would be a target, but we are already targets as we do wear the current US Army ACU uniform. :banghead:

the Texas State Guard is still active????

I joined with my Dad in the late 70's. Our unit (in Longview at the time) had 3-4 drills, then just seemed to fizzle. I never heard anything more after about 1978. I wonder if I've been AWOL for the last 34 years?

You're just jealous JP171!

I know that if my unit's mascot was a crow, I'd be jealous of the 4th REGT Panther too:
