Percentage who actually carry

I believe that work rules are a big driver. There are so many of us that can't leave their weapon in their car at work. It is then more difficult to carry the remainder of the time. If the family and I go out for dinner or shopping after I return from work, I occasionally forget. (Then I am slightly uncomfortable until we are safe at home). When I am on vacation, I carry 100%. It is as easy as putting my wallet in my pocket.

I have a Bond Arms 45 Colt that lives in my center console in my xB . I can't carry at the University but the Police Chief says we can have it in our car in the parking lot. Every where else I carry. I rotate carry weapons according to my mode of dress. My wife got to where she would change to a smaller purse and leave her Bersa at home because it made her cute little purse too heavy. So I got her a Taurus TCP. It's small and she "broke it in" with about 200 rounds before we decided it was good to go. It's small enough for her to carry in her smallest purse and she can shoot it well.
The best gun to have it the one you will carry, she'll carry that one. She did carry her Bersa CC 380 all through Montana and Wyoming though. I guess she was worried about the Bears in Yellowstone.

I'm happy to report that my dad is rethinking his carry position - meaning that he now thinks he should carry (yay!). He saw a piece on the news about a 62 year old man in Garland who was beat down and eventually died (in the hospital) by two thugs (apparently this happened in the last week or so, I don't have a news cite though). It got my dad to thinking. So, we'll be making a range trip soon, he wants to put some more lead through his nice Colt .380 Gov't model and/or his S&W .357 mag.

I'm pretty much 24/7.

My dad has had his since '96 or '97 (when it first came out, he got his right after I got mine, the class was my Christmas present to him), he rarely carries, said he really got it more so he can carry whenever he takes a motorhome trip.

A buddy of mine also has had his since the beginning, I don't think he even owns a handgun! But he wanted the option and he wanted to be able to bypass the brady waiting period if he needed on quick.

Another buddy is as close to 24/7 as he can be (except at work, then it's in his car due to company policy).

Carry as close to 24/7 as possible. Only time I disarm is if I'm in a verboten location, and I try to avoid those.

My work does not allow me to carry so my carry percentage is probably about 25%. When not at work or driving to/from work, I am armed when I leave the house.

My situation is carry all the time except in the company building. Soon that should change. The owner of my company learned that I am now a CHL Instructor and wants to take my class in September. He is already ok with employees having them in their car. I'm in hope's that after I get him his CHL he'll be ok with the rest of us CHL holders carrying in the office. Wish me luck!
