From the article:
"This is yet another story in which a major company punishes employees for trying to protect it from entitled thugs who think they have the right to take what they want."

Re: Academy sports employee fired for trying to stop pistol thief
Academy's response is not proportionate to the alleged violation. In the news media, one of the employees said they never received training on the store's policy. Second, the employee did have good intentions, stopping a thief from stealing a pistol. Third, why not just counsel the employee and let them return to work? These black & white policies are similar to the "zero tolerance" policies used in schools. You don't develop good employees by firing them any time they make a mistake.

Does anyone believe that heads were not going to roll regardless? Someone was going to get the axe once the gun walked.

I read about this a couple days ago and thought the article I read implied that they did not try to stop the person , but rather only followed them to get information for the police to be able to apprehend them.
