ATF says bump-stocks have never been used in a crime...

As the name indicates, this is the place for gun-related political discussions. It is not open to other political topics.

No, but as of right now this is uncorroborated.

What is significant about either date on that letter?
Just that it was dated the same day Andy posted it. So if it is real - and I assume it is - then it is very recent information rather than something that’s been floating around for a while.
That IS very interesting! Was the letter not mailed? How did it get posted online so fast and why is there no record on the law firms website?
I do not know the answer to that....which is why I threw in the caveat (above) "So if it is real…"

If this is real, then it is extremely significant, IMHO.

In the ATF's ruling that redefined bump stocks as machine guns, they cited the use of bump stocks by the Vegas shooter as one of the reasons for the rule. If they are now saying that they have no evidence that bump stocks were actually used in that crime, or any other crime, then they are saying that the stated basis for the bump stock ban was false.

This is not dissimilar to their sister agency (the FBI) which launched a multi-year investigation into our President based on false information. It seems to fit a pattern of behavior by certain agents of our Federal government.

Let's all hope that this letter is not real, for this reason alone.
