As the name indicates, this is the place for gun-related political discussions. It is not open to other political topics.

NRA, TSRA, and ???

#1

Post by LDB415 »

What other organizations do the best job of supporting and defending our 2A rights? I'm a life member of those two and if there's another equally worth supporting would like to know who it is.

Couple of suggestions:

https://gunowners.org
Gun Owners of America (GOA) is a non-profit lobbying organization formed in 1975 to preserve and defend the Second Amendment rights of gun owners. GOA sees firearms ownership as a freedom issue.

GOA was founded in 1975 by Sen. H.L. (Bill) Richardson (now retired). The GOA Board of Directors brings over 100 years of combined knowledge and experience on guns, legislation and politics. GOA's Board is not satisfied with the "status quo." Americans have lost some of our precious gun rights and WE WANT THEM BACK! This is why GOA is considered the "no compromise" gun lobby.
https://www.saf.org/mission/
The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) is dedicated to promoting a better understanding about our Constitutional heritage to privately own and possess firearms.

To that end, we carry on many educational and legal action programs designed to better inform the public about the gun control debate.
The left lies about everything. Truth is a liberal value, and truth is a conservative value, but it has never been a left-wing value. People on the left say whatever advances their immediate agenda. Power is their moral lodestar; therefore, truth is always subservient to it. - Dennis Prager

One of the more effective groups in educating and fighting for gun rights is the CATO institute The CATO institute isn't a gun rights group per se, They are a libertarian think tank. They fight what I call "the quiet fight." They are the ones that lead the fight in Heller. They fight the intellectual war, informing and educating the public, our lawmakers and our legal system. The thing is, while the NRA and GOA are very good at promoting their cause they are often just preaching to the choir. Much of the debate, reasoning and talking points that we hear from our side have originated from the folks at CATO.

Yes, I made a donation yesterday. I'm curious to know how that push went. I believe this is the worst assault we've faced yet so I'm looking for any other allies worth supporting.

It's good to acknowledge your fears, but don't let them dictate your path. Choose a direction and head that way with confidence - Cere
