Sheriff Clarke points out that gun control was originally an effort to keep guns out of the hands of black people.

Clarke told the audience that supporters of the Second Amendment today are not doing “such a good job” with winning the “emotional” argument on the gun-rights issue.
This is the problem with the entire conservative argument. The lefties do nothing but make their arguments to touch on peoples emotions. Facts do not matter when it comes to feelings unfortunately.
In certain extreme situations, the law is inadequate. In order to shame its inadequacy, it is necessary to act outside the law to pursue a natural justice.

The difference is that conservatives tend to be driven by facts and logic, while liberals tend to be driven by emotion. It is hard for either one to effectively speak the other's language.

I see this in my own home. My wife is a staunch liberal. Facts are lost on her if they do not support her emotional reaction to an issue. And she thinks I am uncaring jerk because I don't have an immediate emotional reaction to everything. If I can somehow figure out a way to bridge the gap between logic and emotion, I am confident that I will rule the world.

Soccerdad1995,

She should be most grateful you are very caring, if you weren't...

I only know of one married couple who seem to be complete political opposites as in Carrville/Matlin and have stayed together...

My in-laws stayed together for 46 years being at polar opposite ends of the spectrum. It happens albeit tenuously.
