Wells Fargo anti gun/weapon stance
Per the folks at Hogue Inc. on their Facebook page and Website....
"THIS JUST IN: We were just informed that Wells Fargo Bank would not do business with us, refusing to provide their services based on the fact that we manufacture "weapons" (aka knives). Incredibly, this refusal came after THEY initially pursued us to gain our business. Once we had decided to go with Wells Fargo, they then pulled the plug saying they could not provide their services since we manufacture weapons...Needless to say, we are shocked and confused - considering their logo is a stagecoach and driver with a shotgun too! We felt we needed to inform the firearm and knife community of this discriminatory stance Wells Fargo has taken. Please share."
Hogue
Shameful behavior by Wells Fargo...

This might be the luckiest thing that's happened to Hogue in a long time.
Now, they can find a bank that meets their needs and wants to, and can.
I have no idea what their banking needs are, but they probably do not need a huge bank. My experience over several decades with Wells Fargo is uniformly poor, only slightly worse than the other really huge banks whose business plans seem to strive for malevolent incompetence.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

I believe it is the result of "operation choke point" and the feds putting pressure on the big banks. It's an attenpt at backdoor gun control.
Hogue should find a larg local or regional bank with whom to do their banking. I bet they would get better terms and setvices of they did.

Wasnt wells fargo founded as an armed transport for people exploring the western frontier? They transported and protected cargo from bandits as they moved west. My how things have changed, protection companies arent as important when all you see is greed, I mean green.

Maybe they ought to drop Northrop Grumman and Lockheed for making fighter planes. Much more powerful than knives.

Slight drift, to express my view that the banks have been nationalized but none dare call it that. Oh, they still have shareholders and make a profit, but that is about the only remaining indicia of private enterprise.mojo84 wrote:I believe it is the result of "operation choke point" and the feds putting pressure on the big banks. Every aspect of a bank's operation is tightly regulated, the days and hours to be open, the locations of branches, what accounts they may offer and on what terms, what loans they may make and on what terms, other investments permitted, who can be a director or officer. If the officers won't or can't bring themselves to comply with the regulations, they are out and the Fed or Treasury find some who will. The name, logos must all be approved, everything but what candies can be offered at the teller desks.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

Wells Fargo is one of the most expensive banks to deal with as a consumer. I dropped them a long time ago.

Chase is just as bad. Would not process a debit card for my kimber 1911 purchase from a dealer with "gun" in the name
..... So I used my bank of America card instead.

As was pointed out, the flow of funds between the Federal government (included in this article) and the banks makes it an incestuous relationship where the Feds can call the tune and the bankers will dance. I think that Operation "Choke Point" probably crossed a line but there is no question that the current administration, frustrated by the lack of public support for their gun policy, is trying everything and anything to succeed at tit.
I've personally talked to BOA managers who claim that their company has no such anti-gun policy. I dread looking at the entrance door every time that I go in, expecting to see a 30.06 sign but so far, nothing. It is one of the places that I would NEVER consider OC, just because I don't want to be the one who pushes them over the edge. I was with Nation's Bank before it was absorbed by or it absorbed BOA and am very pleased with many of their services. But I have no illusions about their customer loyalty trumping Federal direction.
Given the gigantic Washington lobby that many industries including banking has, I'm surprised at the level of banking regulation. Note to self: the politicians ALWAYS win.

I wonder if they would give the same treatment to a chef knife manufacturer.TexasFlash wrote:Per the folks at Hogue Inc. on their Facebook page and Website....

My guess is NOT because chef knives don't look as scary.
Knives are tools. What makes them a weapon or not is how you use it.

Re: Wells Fargo anti gun/weapon stance
As has been pointed out, the other big banks are just as bad. And it's not just weapons. Any legal business that is deemed "undesirable" is blacklisted. The new pharmaceutical industry in Colorado has to resort to storing cash in personally owned vaults because no bank will let them open an account. Porn and others are similarly shut out, but to a lesser degree.
I don't personally like all of these industries, just like a lot of people don't like guns, but they are selling legal products. Unless the law on that changes to make them illegal, they should have access to our financial institutions, IMHO. This is a dangerous and slippery slope, especially when we have agencies like the IRS openly targeting organizations that they disagree with politically.

Re: Wells Fargo anti gun/weapon stance
I wonder if this could potentially open them up to a discrimination lawsuit or something of the like - Hogue is better off with a better bank and someone who will fit their needs. But if it as was stated and Wells Fargo sought their business out and now are trying to drop them, to me that has brought an unnecessary burden upon Hogue. But I'm sure a business or individual practicing their 2A rights doesn't get the same consideration as one of the special snowflake classes.
