Im fairly positive the state fair is still LTC friendly. Ive carried there every time ive went.

The Fair used to post 51% (late 90's) and exclude CHL's. However, since 46.035 only prohibits carrying on the "PREMISES" of a 51% location...this would only make any buildings, structures, that have a 51% license of limits. The rest of the Fair would be OK. Now let's see of they try to get Fair Park designated as an Amusement Park, like the Dallas Zoo. In my opinion, the Fair rides aren't open enough of the year to qualify, but the park itself is. For the last 10 years or so the Fair has been letting people with LTC in armed.

I stand corrected.

…a gun? No, with one exception.
A person holding a valid Texas Concealed Handgun License (or valid CHL from a reciprocating state) is permitted to enter onto State Fair property with his/her concealed handgun; provided, however, that CHL holders will not be permitted to carry their concealed handgun inside the Cotton Bowl Stadium, a facility defined under Texas Penal Code §46.035 as “the premises where a high school, collegiate or professional sporting event or interscholastic event is taking place.” Note that the State Fair of Texas does not provide lockers for the storage or checking of weapons for CHL holders, so if you plan to attend a game or event in the Cotton Bowl, please secure your weapon at home or in your vehicle prior to entering the fairgrounds. We want the fair to be a fun and safe experience.
They even reference Open Carry
State Fair of Texas’ policy will be similar to our policy for Concealed Handgun License Holders. The State Fair of Texas leases property owned by the City of Dallas and does not fall into any of the exception categories (amusement park, etc.) that would allow us to prohibit the carrying of handguns, so we will be allowing “open carry” according to the Texas statutes. However, we will still prohibit handguns in the Cotton Bowl Stadium under the collegiate athletic event exception.
Good to know in the future.

Sorry for taking the conversation off topic.

I think gun carry should be allowed everywhere. As far a drinking goes
there needs to be a standard for blood alcohol level and legal carry of about 1/2 the legal limit to drive
.04 is the legal limit for handling a commercial ship maybe it should be the same for carry :tiphat:

I like Nevada rules.... <0.10 to carry, <0.08 to drive. It's a lot easier to "not shoot a handgun" when drunk, than to drive a car safely... :biggrinjester:

Tonight I'm going to World of Beer for trivia night with friends. We have a group that usually goes made up of six people. Three of those people drink a few beers while playing trivia. The other three get sodas and food, but do not drink any alcohol. There is absolutely no reason that those not drinking should not be allowed to carry. I would prefer that they do so, as I am one of the ones drinking, so I can't carry myself.
I prefer dangerous freedom to safety in chains.

Let's go Brandon.

Theres no reason why the people that ARE drinking shouldn't carry unless they intend to become intoxicated. People should not drink at all if they feel it affects their judgement to such a degree that they should be disarmed. :???:
