Well this is surprising even for democrats.

I didn't think the fifth amendment was a firewall. I though it was a right.

They still don't get it. They think that we are at war with the Constitution, we are at war with Jihadists. The left just has their head in the sand and thinks that if they protest enough about why they can't strip us of more rights, the law of the land will go away. The FBI did not do everything it could, the administration refuses to allow them to do their jobs for fear of offending someone. This administrations failures are so numerous now that they are running out of scapegoats. They have done, and continue to do, nothing to address the problem, they think they can "make nice" with terrorists, while blaming the problem on guns, and that "inconvenient" document that prevents them from doing what they want.

UN-BE-LIEVABLE! Advocating the elimination of the Due Process clause to the Fifth Amendment is tantamount to nullifying the Fifth entirely!

Folks, the democrats are attacking OUR Constitution of the United States on many levels, and from many different directions....just in the last few days! And the ensuing Rights that go with it. As I see it, Feinstein is a traitor to even suggest such disgusting measures like that.

And my little list of 'people who should be impeached' grows.

WAKE UP AMERICA! See the democrats for what they really are! They are making every attempt to erode every one of our Rights as stated in the Bill of Rights! [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_St ... _of_Rights ]

This is nothing new for the Democrats.

When a Republican signed the Emancipation Proclamation, southern Democrats decided to secede and the Civil War followed. That means the Confederate Battle Flag today's Dems love to vilify is actually one of their symbols.

After the Civil War, the Democrats enacted Jim Crow laws. If a white man was caught with a gun, he got a wink and a nod. Not so for a black man. Republicans bought rifles and gave them to blacks so they would have a chance of defending their homes and families against the Democrat KKK.

In the sixties, it was Democrats that fought desegregation. The vast majority, if not all, of the politicians that were so vocally against equal rights were Democrats.

The list goes on and on and on and on. The Democrats have always fought against personal rights.

Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, two years after the American Civil War started, but your point is still valid.

the Emancipation Proclamation was made during year2 or 3 of the war. It was not the reason the war started. The war wasn't about slavery but that's how it is represented today.

And the Emancipation Proclamation was a martial law declared in occupied areas, not a law of the land...

Yeah it took the 13th amendment to make "law of the land".

The left just has their head in the sand and thinks that if they protest enough about why they can't strip us of more rights, the law of the land will go away.
The tactics of the those on the Left (and I don't agree that their heads are in the sand) are to promote popular opinion, actual democracy, as sacrosanct. Per the Left, popular opinion should reign above all God-given and Constitutionally-protected individual rights, and above any balancing of powers in the three branches of Federal government. That is why they took over public education and the old media and why they have embraced social media so readily -- to drive opinion further left. The call from Acolyte Jarrett is just another example.

This is one of the reasons the Seventeenth Amendment is damaging to individual liberty. It established the popular election of US Senators by the people of their state. Prior to this Amendment, US Senators were elected by state legislatures to be representatives of the state itself, thereby being a voice for the rights of the various States and their differing interests, and, by extension, the interests of the people living in them. Now, Senators are beholden to an electorate and the deep pockets of investors, many of whom are the ones that want to drive public opinion Left.

As far as I am concerned the fifth amendment and due process is a firewall against the left, the nanny state and what they want to do to our second amendment.

If you have ever met a hard core anti gunner they really think gun ownership and gun owners should be criminalized. This is evident by terms like "gun toter", "gun nut" etc.

You are, of course, correct. I got a little over zealous.

Still, when Lincoln was elected, the southern Democrats saw the writing on the wall and that lead to the Civil War. Slavery was not the ONLY issue, but it was a big one.
