Not sure about everyone else, but evry new gun I have bought in the last 10 years or so has had gun locks with them. They make interesting toys for the younger grandkids

My wife's Ruger LCR .38 came with a cylinder lock.

I have multiple cable locks. One from the Austin PD, one from my city's PD, others from trade shows. All free.

Free gun locks is such a good idea that its already being done.

Exactly, why do they think they need to spend more tax payer money? My son's Boy Scout troop even gave away gun locks.

When you buy a new handgun, the lock that comes with it isn't free...you paid for it.

I agree, it is added to the cost of the gun, but the point being, you can provide anything you want, free child safety seats are available for those who can't afford them, but how many kids are still killed from not being in them? Giving something to someone will not guarantee it's use, and I don't think tax payers should foot the bill.

That's why the government should give me a free lock. Like my cell phone and SNAP card money. Then I don't have to pay for it, you do. :biggrinjester:

FFLs are already required to provide a gun lock with a new handgun purchase. PC 46.13 (Making a firearm accessible to a child) makes it illegal to provide access to a readily dischargeable firearm. People are going to follow safe gun handling practices (and the law) or they aren't. Handing out gun locks isn't going to make a difference.

Yeah but the truth is not something anti gun folks are comfortable with. They never got used to using it.
