I'd vote for Trump ahead of Christie. And HRC, of course. That's about it.
Not a very high bar.

There are many others, even on this Forum, who are or at least claim to be former Liberal Progressives. Even our former Governor, Rick Perry, was a Democrat. I allow folks to change and accept their reasons for seeing the light. So, for me, Trump is the man. He does talk a bit too much, but that is exactly the reason I like him. I am tired of all this PC. People, especially our leaders are too afraid to speak the truth. The current batch of Republicans, too scared of being labeled a Racist, if they say anything derogatory towards the one. All of the New's Media fully supporting the current Whitehouse in EVERYTHING, including crimes, ala the Pravda and Tass of the old Soviet Union. Trump at least is taking the stand for Gun Rights. Go Trump!!roadkill wrote:Trump is saying the right things but one really needs to look at his past. Has he changed? I don't know but a tiger rarely looses their stripes

Unless we keep the barbarian virtues, gaining the civilized ones will be of little avail. Oversentimentality, oversoftness, washiness, and mushiness are the great dangers of this age and of this people." Teddy Roosevelt"

I agree that people's opinions can change, but for those running for office, changing a position is a tactical maneuver, not necessarily coming to the light. Trump changed his views on gun rights so that he can stop Cruz from getting as many votes from the gun community. He does not care about the 2nd Amendment for us lowly serfs, he just wants our votes.DEB wrote:There are many others, even on this Forum, who are or at least claim to be former Liberal Progressives. Keep in mind that when he wrote this, he had a permit to carry a gun in NYC and his security definitely had "assault weapons." He happilly benefits while the people's rights are trampled. In that respect, he is no different than Clinton (whom he has made campaign donations to in the past).Donald Trump wrote:It’s often argued that the American murder rate is high because guns are more available here than in other countries. After a tragedy like the massacre at Columbine High School, anyone could feel that it is too easy for Americans to get their hands on weapons. But nobody has a good solution. This is another issue where you see the extremes of the two existing major parties. Democrats want to confiscate all guns, which is a dumb idea because only the law-abiding citizens would turn in their guns and the bad guys would be the only ones left armed. The Republicans walk the NRA line and refuse even limited restrictions. I generally oppose gun control, but I support the ban on assault weapons and I also support a slightly longer waiting period to purchase a gun. With today’s Internet technology we should be able to tell within seventy-two hours if a potential gun owner has a record.

Trump is all about Trump plain and simple. Other than ego, I'm still trying to figure out what he has to gain from winning the Whitehouse. I would take him over any Democrat but we seriously need a viable third party.
He's saying a lot of right things right now. Hard to know if he means them or not.

In certain extreme situations, the law is inadequate. In order to shame its inadequacy, it is necessary to act outside the law to pursue a natural justice.
