Randy Kennedy is the Chief of Police in Hughes Springs, Texas.
...what I’m asking all my citizens to do, all my law-abiding citizens, I’m asking you to help me and our fellow law enforcement officers by arming yourselves. I want you to get a carry permit. I want you to learn how to use your weapon properly, safely…and I am calling on every able bodied person that is of legal age to do so.

I have heard of several of these now... They are beginning to sound like militia calls to arms.

Well the piney forest of Deep East Texas have always been known to have some colorful people living in them. Meth is easy to make money off of. The good sheriff probably knows his constituents better than me, so if he is advocating this they might need to. He could also be getting ready for reelection soon, and pro gun during campaign season seems like a smart plan.
