San Antonio Attorney arrested for carrying into the Bexar Co. courthouse/Justice Center.

I don't know anything about the facility to know if this was off-limits or not.

Can someone in San Antonio shed some light?

He must not be a well known attorney there. The times I've been to the court house, a lot of the attorneys don't even have to put their briefcases or bags through the xray , they just walk in through the side, wave and say good morning to the deputies.

So does this building fall into the category of having things other than court rooms in it (justice center being more than just court rooms)? If so, sounds like arresting him for entering the building is contrary to law and what the Governor also put out. And if so, looks like a good indication of what would happen to the average CHL holder then if entering any similar building.

I just hope he does not elect to represent himself. :totap:

The local jury will be his biggest hazard.

The article quotes "his attorney."

He will plead this down to spitting on the sidewalk or something similar. Conviction of a felony where I practiced was automatic disbarment.

Of course, after a few years, if you kept your nose clean, they would let you back in. At least they did with a stolen property fencer, and a major securities fraud enabler.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

And a pretty nifty way to do it by covering his bases by saying that it was a mistake, just in case it goes badly and he uses that to get it reduced.

A few months back Drew Darby, a state representative, was arrested for carrying a handgun through airport security in Austin, Texas. He employed the "I forgot" defense, authorities reviewed the case, and dismissed the charges. Although I do not know the Bexar County District Attorney I would imagine a similar result here.
