Anti-Campus Carry Opinion from Baylor President

#1

Post by J.R.@A&M »

From Ken Starr, more specifically. http://thefederalist.com/2015/11/17/ken ... with-guns/

We don't trust CHLs, and, by the way, we are not spending any money for metal detectors or building security. Sheesh.

In a few years the question will be, if licensed students at A&M and XYZ Texas State can be trusted with guns, why can't Baylor students?

By his own logic, there should be at least a 35year old minimum for anyone to join the military or any PD. I bet he has campus police in the age of those not trustworthy. I know there are lots of Waco LEO's in those age groups.

Pretty disappointing to say the least, but much more so because of the (lack of) reasoning.

Well, some areas of society don't defer maturity into the 30s. Son was an Armored Cavalry Troop Commander at the age of 28 and was the "old man" in Mosul Iraq back in 2007. He was responsible for not only his own troop 100+ Soldiers (with M-1 tanks and Bradleys), but an Iraqi battalion of almost 400 Soldiers and together they were responsible for the security of the entire SW portion of a major city with on-going combat operations. Most of his outposts were under the direction of a 23 year old LTs. Funny thing is that there he carried a 9mm and an M-4 EVERYWHERE, yet today as a 36 year old field grade officer, he is only allowed by the Army to carry "to and from the range" or while "in the field" and then only unloaded. It is not really about maturity, but about control.

I used to have some respect for Ken Starr, but not wanting to trust one of the most trustworthy segments of society just shows that he has bought into the classic liberal mantra.

The state of Texas hires plenty of college aged employees 18 on up every day to work in the prison system, they use 12 ga, .357 and .223 AR-15s and any of them are subject to be armed and transporting offenders anytime or place, hospitals to be included.

Judge Starr was also quoted in the Waco Tribune at the same conference saying "My own view is that it is very unwise public policy — with all due respect to those who feel strongly, very, very rooted in constitutional values as they see them "

As he is considered a constitutional authority, this is disappointing. I guess the Judge is not as conservative as he would like to appear.

This is just crap. Narrow minded people like this forget the huge majority of our armed forces is composed of folks in that age range, not to mention many LEO's.

From the bio on Wikipedia:
Starr first attended the Church of Christ-affiliated Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas, where he was an honor student, a member of the Young Democrats club,[1] and a vocal supporter of Vietnam protesters.[6] He later transferred to The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., where he received his bachelor of arts degree in history in 1968. During his time at The George Washington University, Starr was a member of Delta Phi Epsilon, the national professional foreign service fraternity.[7] Starr worked for the Southwestern Company.[8] He later attended Brown University where he earned master's degree in 1969 and then went to Duke University School of Law, earning his J.D. in 1973. Starr was not drafted for military service during the Vietnam War, as he was classified 4‑F, because of a case of psoriasis.[9]

Starr was never anything but prostitute for TPTB --a useful tool. He did as he was told and was rewarded for being a lackey.
