Re: SCC Claims Media Bias by UT-Austin Student Newspaper
Things may have changed since I was a student at UT, 50 years ago, but then, the chief use for the Daily Texan seemed to be shielding one's eyes from the glare of classroom lights during naptimes MWF 8, etc formally known as classes.
College students are outrageous. That's what they do. Mostly, no one pays much attention to them, and little harm is done. If you can't be outrageous, what is the point? Writing editorials about no place to park? Leading protests for better get care for Bevo? The hard seats in classrooms, or bright lights?

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

I wish I could say I'm surprised, but as a UT-Austin grad, I am not....

No doubt The Daily Texan is biased on this issue.
The meatheads on their editorial staff need to accept the fact that campus carry is coming.

Re: SCC Claims Media Bias by UT-Austin Student Newspaper
Since UT is a state-supported public school, a good argument can be made that its "newspaper" is protected by the First Amendment. Granted, it's pushing the concept to claim that a school newspaper editor is a "government official," but it is a colorable argument. Perhaps the Legislature should consider slashing funding for UT because of unconstitutional censorship by this taxpayer-funded newspaper.

Big thumbs up, but it's not just gun stuff. UT has a poor attitude towards the 1A in general, as well as the 2A, and rights of due process. I do think the Legislature should investigate the public universities' and colleges' cavalier treatment of constitutional rights, but its leaders seems more interested in currying favor with the administrators and trying to impeach Regents who dare to try to exercise oversight.Charles L. And Gov Abbott should be helping with Regent selections.

I get your point and agree. With the UT System being one if the holy grails for the cronies to syphon cash from the taxpayers and put it in their pockets, it'll never be discussed much less happen.Charles L. Now SCC is going after the student newspaper at Texas State:
Re: SCC Claims Media Bias by UT-Austin Student Newspaper
I am a student at Texas State, and the University Star is as liberal as the Daily Texan. It drives me crazy, but I am powerless. They continually put out insanely one sided posts with unreliable statistics and no one holds them accountable. The University Star is trash as evidenced by the linked article.Bladed wrote:Now SCC is going after the student newspaper at Texas State:

They are just following in the footsteps of the national media.
