Very thoughtful examination of gun violence and its decline since 1993 and the public's lack of knowledge on the subject other than thinking its worse.

Interesting fact: 65 percent of gun deaths are of one race that comprises only 13 percent of the population.

Some very good information is contained in that link. It would be nice to see the data updated the information through 2014, but I'm sure that the trend has not changed too much since 2011.

More so than the demographics of the victims, I'd be interested to the percentage of perpetrators who would not have passed a federal background check to purchase a firearm from a dealer.

In my opinion highlighting the racial demographics does nothing to advance anyone's particular argument. Personally I feel that location has as much to do with it as race, and what it leads to is a chicken vs. the egg argument about poverty, crime, and race.

The goal should be to indicate that restrictions being placed to keep guns out of the hands of the criminally or mentally dangerous specifically coupled with a steady increase in the population of legally licensed concealed handgun holders is resulting in a decrease of violent crime involving the use of guns.

Also interesting that the assault weapons ban implementation or expiration doesn't seem to have made a noticeable impact on the trends.

You are reading it wrong...

Our liberal friends will tell you that the drop in crime starting in 1994 was due to the AWB, and nothing you say will convince them otherwise. You can bring up Conceal Carry laws exploding in nearly every state, you can cite demographics as the last of the baby boomers aged out of "youth limited offender" category with very few Gen X aging in to that category... but it will all be due to the AWB in their mind.

That and facts are racist.

See my sig line for some insight about our liberal friends.

Very Interesting read - I knew in most cities in the US that crime rates were down, but I did not realize they had come down that much since the 1980/90's

Assuming they argue the above case, one should ask them why the rate didn't skyrocket once the AWB expired....

Astounding isn't it that the public, much less the media is so ill informed? (Couldn't find a sarcastic smiley)

Yeah, you tell them more guns less crime. None of the liberals would believe you. I say see facts not fictions :rules: :rules: :rules:
One of their response is "Oh, more advancements in Security Camera, more Advancements in Alarm Systems, cell phones are everywhere, all are the real factor in less crime".

I say, I do not carry an Alarm system over my head nor a Security Camera, I do carry a gun. :smilelol5: :smilelol5:

I've noticed no one is crediting all the guns that were sold or the start of the popularity of CHL.
