Anti-gun folks typically adhere to "correlation equals causation" arguments -- fallacies that they are quick to exploit due to simplemindedness (irrational fear of a tool) or more nefarious reasons (like thier perceived "proper" disposition of force options in the hands of only those in power). Suicides where a gun was involved are included in all their statistics due to this "logic". They conveniently never ask if the suicide would have occurred had a gun not been present. Following similar logic, it could be stated that cars or even roads are the cause of all drunk-driving tragedies rather than people choosing to drive while impaired.
