I've carried them for years... they were illegal before?

AEA,
Can you post the law concerning assisted opening knives, or tell me where to find it. I stopped carrying mine because of that S.A. judge that ruled them to be "switch blades". I couldn't find anything in the DPS news release about new laws.
Thanks, OE

Yet major stores were allowed to posses and sell them? (Bass Pro, Wal-Mart, etc?)

The old law didn't apply to most auto-assist knives that I've carried for years. The "button" isn't on the handle, but on the blade, and it isn't a "button".

The problem with the old law was that any old LEO could interpret it any way he wanted and in a lot of cases he was wrong and peeps were being charged and having to pay money to get out of jail and lawyers, etc....when it was not necessary.
So, Texas clarified it (a bit anyway).

I never stopped carrying my 1670BLKST, even after that silly judge had brain flatulence.
It's a great pocket knife.

Yep, the Blur models are nice knives for the money (around $60.00 - $70.00 depending on where you buy them)!
You can also get them in Blue (pictured) and of course Black with plain edge, partially serrated edge in tanto and drop point blades.
