URGENT ACTION ITEM: CAMPUS-CARRY

#1

Post by Charles L. Cotton »

As others have posted, HB 1893 was voted favorably from the House Public Safety Committee on 5-3 vote. Voting "yes" were Chairman Merritt, Vice-chairman Frost and Representatives Driver (Bill Author), King and Lewis. Voting "no" were Representatives Burnam, Mallory-Caraway and Rodriquez. Representative Hubert Vo "walked" on the vote. Please contact those voting "yes" and thank them for their support. House Members.

Now HB1893 moves to the House Calendars Committee. This committee decides when, and IF, the bill will come to the floor for a vote by the full House of Representatives. Please call, fax and email members of the House Calendars Committee and urge them to set HB 1893 on the House Calendar for a vote! Yeah, I know I usually discourage emails, but not on this issue. Nevertheless, calls and faxes are much more effective.

Calendars Committee Members.

Thanks,
Chas.

I find it very handy to have PC fax capability and one of those calling plans that has no domestic long-distance charges. So I've sent faxes rather than email.

If you want to direct committee members to more detailed information on this issue, you can suggest that they review the "Students for Concealed Carry on Campus Handbook: Texas Edition." The handbook can be downloaded here: http://www.StudentsForConcealedCarryOnCampus.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (the address links directly to a PDF of the handbook).

Well, it certainly was in-depth, though (perhaps necessarily) a bit repetitive in places.

Fax sent this morning to all 13.
Edited to add: Queen of the Paperwork says the fax number (512-480-0744) for Allen Ritter was a "no go".
