Unix Incident Management / Assigned Systems Engineer UPDATED

#1

Post by nitrogen »

We've got 2 UNIX positions open at my company, in Irving, TX

Both are somewhere between a Jr./Midlevel Unix engineer. The position would basically be handling problems that are detected by our monitoring software, or customers calling in. No on-call for this position. Both positions would be 7p-7a, one for alt weds, thrus-sat, and one is sun-tues, alt weds.

If you are insterested, or would like to know more, PM me.

What flavor of UNIX are you talking about?

Linux and Unix continues to be a specialty that is in demand. Back in the mid 90's I was a member of the DFWUUG (DFW Unix Users' Group) and there were a huge number of professional and excellent sysadmins in that group. If they are still meeting, you might consider attending the next meeting, stand up, and mention that you're looking for sysadmin(s).

I just looked, and they are meeting right now, while I'm posting this.

You should attend the next meeting. You'll be glad you did, if the group is anything like it was 10 years ago.

I can definitely vouch that there's still a demand for UNIX and Linux skills.

I would go as far to claim that UNIX / Linux oportunitys are growing, While Windows oportunities will always be there, it is UNIX/ LINUX that is expanding market share. Most larger IT Centers have both styles of O/S

Liberty, I'd agree. That's why we're hiring. My team gained headcount while the windows guys had to absorb attrition.
