Concealed Carry Handgun Training

8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Howell Woods Environmental Learning Center, 6601 Devil's Racetrack Road, Four Oaks.

Participants will be required to take a shooting-proficiency test.
Students will need to bring a handgun with belt and holster, hearing protection, shooting glasses and 100 rounds of ammunition.

Closed-toe shoes are required, and long pants are recommended. In addition, students are encouraged to bring a hat, water, sunblock and bug spray. Students might want to bring a bag lunch. The cost is $60.

Probably under "no-credit/Continuing education" classes, but good to see it listed in a college course catalog :mrgreen:

I've seen basket weaving, quilting, making stained glass, pottery, etc in those.... Pretty much anything someone wants to teach that a school figures they can make money on/ or doesn't "cost" the school..

That class is a JOKE!!!!! That class is SOOO easy for the handgun proficiency. You don't even have to hit into the circle on the target to get qualified for the handgun permit there.

Lone Star Community College (north side of Houston) has had a Tx CHL class intermittently... not sure it this was the last time (Spring 2009) it was offered.

They did a group Feb 2011 - they have a pretty active 2nd Amendment group. Of course the range portion is not done on campus, but we will take our baby steps where we can get them!

I did my original/new license class at a community college back in the 90s. I don't recall if it was HCC or Lonestar or another, but iirc we shot at the Carter's Country range up North.

Wichita State is offering a two credit hour Hunter Education course this semester through their Physical Education department. Students who pass the course get hunter education certificates and can apply to become hunter ed. instructors, in addition to the two credit hours towards their degree.
