How was the Fox 29 piece? What footage and interviews did they use? I've been looking all over their website for it, but it doesn't look like they posted it.RPB wrote: Fox 29 has no report, but is scrolling across the bottom of the screen for hours, "Texas State University ...."

Fox 29 San Antonio was pretty brief, I've searched and can't see anywhere they postd it.
IMHO MyFoxAustin channel 7 KTBC had a one of the best video reports/ interview with Scott and allowed everyone to laugh at John Woods
I still haven't timed it, how long it is, yet.

what if guns were taken away completely? we wouldn't have such problems in the first place. nobody NEEDS to have something that can end someone else's or even their own life. such weapons should only be made available to law enforcement.

You mean like in Mexico? Where we read of 2,700 murders in one city so far this year?
Guns are illegal in Mexico. HTML isn't allowed here, or I'd provide a link to the tijuana.usconsulate.gov/tijuana/warning.
Ok, I'll fantasize with you though.
If guns were removed completely, a criminal can take a car antenna and make a .22 caliber gun, or a water pipe and make a 12 Gauge Shotgun ,,,, whatta you got for defense? Scissors?

(Maybe I should have said a chalk eraser ... scissors might not be available; I don't have any in my backpack ... erasers might be available?)

Did the Fox 29 piece include interviews with any Texas State students? If so, how did those interviews go? Also, did the piece include any footage from a CHL class?
Re: TSU-student-government-endorses
Honestly the Fox 29 piece came on when I was trying to get my 15-year-old niece ready to take to her school and I didn't get to pay much attention. (My brother has to be at work at 4:00 a.m. so he drops her off at my house at 3:00 so she can nap, then I get to get her ready and driver her to school)
So, I didn't really get to pay much attention to it.
Plus, see I use an over-the-air antenna to get Waco,San Antonio, Austin,Fredericksburg, and some mornings (depending on weather) Bryan/College Station, Victoria, Houston, Dallas, and was flipping back and forth and rotating antenna, so I missed a lot trying to catch it. (Not rich enough for cable/satellite, plus my antenna gets between 94 and 100 channels since it went digital)
Sorry
Maybe contact the station and ask for a copy or whatever

Professors in the Hines building (Criminal Justice Professors) http://www.cj.txstate.edu/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; who are Former Law Enforcement Officers and are Firearms Instructors and also have a CHL and some are CHL instructors, shouldn’t be allowed to be armed, because they are in a classroom?
I’d rather have those fellows armed and able to assist if needed.
These are the guys who actually TEACH our law enforcement officers nationwide things like the hostage negotiation seminar so we can learn to negotiate for 6 and a half hours or longer?

Texas State has “at least 3 officers on duty at all times” for the campus of 35,000, who can respond within 2 minutes.
Realize that hostage situations could occur, so response time has little to do with the amount of time a gunman has to shoot victims
George Henard shot 40 people in less than 15 minutes (even deducting his breaks for time to regain composure after crashing truck into the wall, exiting the vehicle around the debris, talking to a woman and her daughter and letting them go and reloading)
How many bullets can a person fire in six-and-a-half-hours?
Student takes 24 people hostage with handgun
+++++
The teenager allowed five of his hostages out after about six and a half hours
+++++
Capt. Benitez at TSU says they keep 3 officers on duty at all times for a University of 35,000 students and they can respond within 2 minutes ….
I wonder if police arrived quickly, Capt. Benitez said 3 officers might can respond in 2 minutes?
(Police response time is irrelevant to the amount of time a shooter has to execute victims)
ummmm ok, so they can form a perimeter, wait outside and watch until the guy shoots himself, like at UT recently and like they always do (even at Luby’s)
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2010/11/29/ar ... wisconsin/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
So far, people are lucky that SOME suicidal shooters, unlike suicidal George Henard, aren’t wanting to hurt others.

It's not that big a deal. I was just curious because we spent a lot of time trying to find interview subjects and stock footage for the reporters in San Antonio, and I was wondering how much of it they actually used and how well the interviews went.RPB wrote:Honestly the Fox 29 piece came on when I was trying to get my 15-year-old niece ready to take to her school and I didn't get to pay much attention. the point is, you don't NEED a gun. yes you can argue that a spatula along with many other common household items can be used as weapons but a gun is unnecessary and deadly.

Yes guns are deadly, that's why criminal like them. If they carried daises, we could be on equal footing and slap each other with daisies. They don't; I prefer to live. I've had 7 guns pointed at me in the past, 1st when 2 robbers robbed an electronics store I was in, 2nd time when 5 guys robbed a hardware store I was in. I didn't NEED a gun either time. I'm a licensed CHL, and I believe, like most do, your brain is your best weapon. I suggested they lock us up in the store room, and they did (both times) That didn't work for the Yogurt Shop Murders, the deaths of four teenage girls in a yogurt shop in Austin, Texas on Friday, December 6, 1991, they locked them in the store room, and executed them. At that point, expect trouble from me, I do not intend to be sitting still waiting my turn. It's that point I NEED a gun.

Austin, Texas was a big city with a small-town attitude. I think there were a lot of people who lived there that thought something like this just doesn't happen here. And so in many ways, these four murders changed Austin forever.
The cops told me that three of the girls had been shot once in the head; little Amy was shot twice.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Obviously, the teen girls couldn't be CHLs, but similar situation occurred to me ... twice, but without the executions.
1st time there were 3 of us; second time about 14 people locked up. No shots fired by anyone either time; I think I stated my position well above, about at what point I'll draw.

The point is that students are not as universally opposed to campus carry as our opponents might have people believe, and now the Texas legislature and the people of Texas know that. The final disposition of a nonbinding student resolution is of much less significance than the results of the vote itself.

to be honest 1rpb1, i wouldn't know what I would do in that situation. perhaps I would just cower under the desk and pray. however, I do believe if that with less weapons available to the wrong hands, the likelihood of this kind of situation happening in the first place would be far less.

gitsmctee I totally absolutely agree that guns should be kept out of the wrong hands. Some people do have to go through parts of town to get to school. I wear my gun in a hidden holster Inside my pants on a reinforced belt, right now Universities want me to leave it in the car instead, Criminals are using school parking lots as shopping malls. It's less likely that anyone will reach into my pants, than break into my car. BUT, I guess we'll see what the future holds, now that the resolution was vetoed, and we'll need to vote to over ride the veto in the Spring.

Slightly off topic, but a year ago, as I sat in the lobby of a 4-star San Antonio hotel, shots rang out as the glass windows above me exploded. Needless to say, there was ensuing panic and confusion as to what to do. Luckily it was “only” a drive-by shooting and no one was injured physically, but I’ve lived with the fear since, that a shooter can be anywhere, anytime. My queston to you all is,are CHL classes available in San Marcos? I know many people who want to find a class locally.
Yes Cathy, there are quite a few Certified CHL instructors in San Antonio; just Google SAN ANTONIO CHL
Also, more info at txdps.state.tx.us/administration/crime_records/chl/chlsindex
Cathy, you can check out the TexasCHLforum for recommendations on CHL Instructors in San Antonio, and learn quite a bit by browsing it.
Cathy, I’m a dufus sorry, just do what I said, but substitute San Marcos for San Antonio in my posts above
If I’m not mistaken, one of the Criminology Professors at Texas State University is a CHL and firearms instructor who trains future and current police officers. But, he isn’t currently allowed to be armed on Campus.
