New York City decided to change a portion of its gun laws related to the transport of firearms just a few months after the Supreme Court decided to review a lawsuit scrutinizing the city’s gun control laws.

Licensed gun owners in New York City will soon be able to legally transport their firearm to a second home, business or any other place gun possession is permitted as a result of a rules change the NYPD announced Friday, The New York Daily News reported.
Current rule is NYC residents can take their gun only to the range and back or to hunting area and back. Cannot legally transport it to second home or place of business.

NYC's effort to get the appeal dismissed for mootness. Let us hope the effort fails and the Supremes find the modifications insufficient.

Anyone with a brain that works knows that gun control only controls people that follow the law. Constitutional carry has proven that law abiding people are not causing any problems.

The real problem that this merely highlights is that NYC operates as an entity unto itself, as if it were a self-contained city-state. The entire city needs to be brought to heel, and at least be forced to follow all NY state laws. That, of course, is not the ideal solution by any stretch of the imagination, but it would at least be a step in the right direction.
