Planning a driving vacation out west, what to do?

We're planning to take a family vacation out west, and are planning to hit Colorado, Nevada, California, New Mexico and Arizona. I've searched and haven't been able to find it and am hoping someone here may know: is there a nice guide to the gun laws in those states for a Texas CHL holder? We'll be in an RV and there's no way I want to go on such a trip unarmed.
Any advice on the laws of those states would be most appreciated.

Easy. Use
http://www.handgunlaw.us" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. You follow their laws. California is basically a no-go totally.

Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona: Your Texas license is recognized.
Nevada: Get an Arizona non-resident permit by mail, Nevada recognizes those. Or open carry (but I'm not sure how friendly Las Vegas is towards OC).
California: Make sure you don't take any >10 round magazines or firearms defined as assault weapons in California, and keep guns unloaded and inaccessible while driving. Your RV is your residence while stopped though, so you're OK to have a gun loaded in California at that time.
