Wisconsin newspaper: Repeal the "stupid" 2nd Amendment

#1

Post by n5wd »

A Wisconsin newspaper has called for the repeal of the "stupid" Second Amendment.

TFC/TCHLForum's Charles Cotton, quoted by KTRH's story, calls that 'the dumbest thing he's ever heard!'

At least they understand the avenue they have to follow to achieve their agenda. Not state laws. Not city laws. Not lawsuits. An Amendment is what it'll take. Good luck.

Even if the Second Amendment were to be repealed we would still have the right to keep and bear arms. The constitution and BOR just enumerates some of our rights which were given to us by God. The documents do not create nor grant us rights.

This is a fact lost on tyrants and their ilk.

While I completely agree with you, the wording is something that gives ammunition to the anti's. (No pun intended.) Instead, I like to think/refer to them as "natural rights." I have the natural right to live, therefore I have the right do defend my life. A lot of liberals will roll their eyes at any mention of God or church in regards to laws because of the separation of Church and State. However, if you refer to them as natural rights, they have no claim to dispute on that basis.
Keep calm and carry.

Let them roll their eyes all they want. I will not stop proclaiming God and His work just to get someone to agree with me.

I like the point Charles Cotton made at the end.
Cotton also telling KTRH that public opinion is turning against anti-gun rights groups despite the fact they remain very vocal.

One thing that is always true, when a group is losing support, they always scream loudest when in the weakest position. If they were in a strong position to accomplish their goals, they would be much more careful and disguise their opinions/motives a lot more.

I think it's an interesting topic in theory. I don't focus on the right to "keep" arms, but the right to "bear" arms isn't clearly accepted in todays society... Heck, we can't even get agreement on what that means within this group.

No support from me for repealing the 2nd, but the 2nd isn't what it says it is, at least not in terms of reality in today's society.
